I heard there is about 3inches around the edges of the lake and it gets closer to 8-10inches out farther. I'm not a 100% sure on this though. Hope it helps.

My boys fished Crystal Saturday night and Sunday morning. They fished in about 45 FOW, 2/3 of the way between Beulah and RR Point. They caught a ton of perch, but had to do lots of sorting. There is slush on the ice near shore but once you get out away from the shore there is about 6" of good clear ice.

Does anybody know if the west end froze over safely yet? Hoping for some laker action this weekend.

Was told an hour ago that there is good ice on the west end now.

We fished Lobb Road Tue. night for smelt -- didnt get a whole lot, but alot of the time was working bugs out for the first trip of the year. About 7 inches of ice there, but very bumpy due to the broken and windblown ice that refroze. Herdmans bay has about 5-6 inches of ice and we will be heading out there this week for smelt hopefully. Railroad point and the rest of the east end of the lake has anywhere from 6-8" of ice.
