Going to D-BAR-A scout ranch near Metamora this weekend. There are 3 lakes on the property, Trout, Beaver and Lockwood. Does anyone know anything about these lakes or camp? They said to bring ice fishing equipment along. At least we are staying in heated cabins.
Thanks for any info

All the lakes are good. I like Lockwood the best, but that is the furthest back.
You wouldn't believe me if I told ya how big some of the largemouth are in that lake. You just wouldn't believe me...
Some darn nice pike in a couple of those lakes too.

I know those lakes intimately, I was a lifeguard for the Boy Scouts there in the 80's. Gills, crappies, pike and bass, very weedy in the sumertime. All three lakes have creeks flowing into and out of them, Lockwood has two creeks flowing in...use extreme caution near them. You can get a map of the whole camp at the ranger's office when you first check in to the camp. We really used to catch alot of gills near the swimming areas, which all had permanent docks in about 22 FOW. Unless things have changed, you will have to bring your own bait. If you're going with to be with a bunch of kids, bring extra rods, maybe you can turn some of them into fisherman. Good luck!

I was there two summers ago. Hula poppers kill the bass and pike. I need something bigger than an ultra light next time...Pike got most of em..

The Tiger Musky planted a few years back should provide some action as well.:D
