I got out of work a little early yesterday and decided since it was the only day for the next two weeks there's no basketball practice for either kid it would be a good day to go fishing.
I got bait, loaded the car and waited for the kids to get home, then we headed down to the neighborhood lake cut some holes and set-up the shanty.
I was hoping to get some crappie so set-up the shanty in 22ft over some weeds...about a 1/2 hour after sitting down Katie's rod slams down and she starts reeling...I see the head of a northern below the ice so took hold of the line, guided it's head into the hole and up it came...small fish about 21-22 inches, but Katie's first pike and biggest fish through the ice yet.

She thought it looked like an alligator and wasn't having any part of picking it up,but posed for the pic!
Mabye another 1/2 hour went by with Ryan ever so nicely riding her about not picking up the last fish and her pole slams down again...another pike!

She wasn't about to hear another word from her brother and this fish was smaller,so she picked up this one.
Ryan and I were skunked...she had the hot color...pink of course, she said it was pretty:lol: and I didn't have another jig like she had,but still ended up being a decent couple of hours!
