do you have permission or do you own the property? If so then you should be able to trap it.

The first place you need to check is the City. Rochester still had trapping when I was in my teens (1980). I'm not sure if there was a "Rochester Hills" back then. That's when Sterling Heights (my home town) banned it. After that, it's a question of landownership. If the city allows it and you or a friend own the land- go get 'em. If you own it or someone else that's claiming damage does, a City Ban probably has an exemption and it's a different story all together. To paraphrase Uncle Ted, "Ever met a beaver that wasn't doing damage?" City property? You need City permission.

Last, and most important, set your traps VERY CAREFULLY! Catch someone's dog and that beaver or two won't be worth the damage it would cause to trapping as a whole. Whether the dog belonged there or not is irrelevant. If you're not sure how to set them up, please call me. I'll be happy to come out and teach you to catch them and avoid "issues". My phone number is on the MTA website under the LAP Program. I did a little beaver damage control in the Rochester area last Spring. Got 4 nice ones and made a good friend for trappers.

Just in case you are still wondering....Sorry...not allowed. Not allowed to hunt or trap until you get north into Oakland twp. The following was taken from the city of Rochester Hills website.

NO HUNTING OR TRAPPING PERMITTED
IN THE CITY OF ROCHESTER HILLS
City Ordinance prohibits hunting or trapping of any kind, at any time, within the Rochester Hills city limits. We recommend hunters contact the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for information on where hunting is permitted. Please click here to view the City Ordinance
