I was recently checking the weight of my arrow shafts befor fletching them and noticed 3 of them were exactly 13 grains off. This is before nocks and fletching. All of the shafts did have inserts already glued in. My question is should I just not shoot these 3 arrows or can I add 13 grains somehow to the other 6 arrows? Also, does it matter where I add the weight if I were to do so? Seems strange as Gold Tip claims thier arrows to be +/- .5 grains. These are Gold Tip Pro Hunter Arrows.

The places I buy my shafts will take them back if I'm not satisfied. If a shaft is a few grains off, I put some lead shot under the field point. 13 is excessive and could be the glue on the insert.

possibly different inserts

see how they shoot before you mess with them When I buy a dozen arrows I usually try to find the four best flying and use the rest for practice. sometimes the glue used in the inserts can change the flight of an arrow

Unless your shooting spots for money and trying to hit a nickle every shot. I wouldnt worry about it. shoot them and see if your groupings are way off from the 3. I doubt it will but check first!!

These were going to be my target arrows!! Seems weird 6 of them would be exactly one weight and three others would be exactly another weight. If I add 13 grains to the nocks on the lighter arrows they should fly the same right?

YES it matters where the 13 grains is missing/added. FOC could change as could spine. Take em back if you're not satisfied.;)
