Anyone have any ideas on how to get the coffee smell out of the plastic coffee containers? I've tryed washing them and once they dry can still smell coffee. I want to use these to keep predator bait and dry dirt in and don't think the critters really like coffe that much.

Time...
Let them sit outside for awhile with the lids off and the coffee smell will go away on its own.It will take some time though.Might not be using those cans this year.Hope this helps.

I personally would not worry about it too much. I would chance using the containers "as is" to experiment with the added odor (it would be so very subtle) as a potential curiosity ingredient. In fact, you gave me the idea to try that very application myself.

i do have some that i left out most of the summer and the smell disipated in a few months. I plan on catching a few spring beavers and was going to make chunk bait out of them for coyote, fox, and cat trapping next fall. I will probably just freeze the carcasses till i can leave the containers outside in some hot weather to get the smell out. Was just wondering if there was a way to wash it out of them. I am going to try vinegar maybe that will do it. Thanks for the replys

I was all my hunting equipment in baking soda periodically throughout the season to kill odors. I also make scent spray out of peroxide, baking soda, and water. I put this solution in a spray bottle. Works as good as any other scent killer. Fill coffee cans with a baking soda an water solution and let it sit for a while. Then repeat the step again after rinsing. Rinse out throw a couple pieces of charcol in the can seal it up for a day and I'll bet that smell is gone. Just like getting the smell out of the garage refrigerator!
