Just a quick question for you.when you were shooting your old bow (the right handed model) did you shoot with both eyes open? I recently bought a hoyt for my wife who is right hand ,left eye without realizing it and weve been trying to make it work with little success.Any pointers from someone who has this problem? Thanks and hope your new left model pays off....

I am right-hand shot, left eye dominant. I simply close my left eye to aim with sights. Have no problem at all. I have heard of those who use a left eye patch so that they can keep both eyes open while shooting.

I am myself right handed, left eye dominant and shoot left handed. Few people will shoot well without using their dominant eye. I am not saying its not possible, its just not easy! Working in an Archery shop, it was very common for someone to come in having problems shooting to find it was the result of opposite eye domination! It is tuff to switch at first, but if you do it, once you get use to it, Archery will be much easier and enjoyable for you.

My wife is right handed but left eye dominant. She shoots just fine as long as she uses a sight but instinctive she is terrible. We thought about having her change but never have.

I also know of one man who lost sight in his right eye so switched to shooting left-handed and he simply says he had no problem switching. However I am told that his scores did drop some but they aren't sure if it is because of the switch or just age related as he is getting up in years.

I've heard of one other man who switched and his scores went up fast!

I switched about 5 years ago and it made it alot easier to shoot with both eyes open. It was a easy change for me because I am predominately left handed. That is something to consider is strength on your left side. Good Luck.

I have the same problem and finally have gotten fed up as well. I am going to continue shooting right handed but will be looking at some alternatives that I can use to allow me to loose the peep sight and shoot both eyes open without having to shoot left handed.

Ive heard of other people with the same issue who use a kisser button only and shoot just fine..

I CAN close my left eye and shoot fine.. However, when I do so in low light conditions I lose the target.. That is why this year I am looking for alternatives.. I want 100% of my eyesite for shooting...

I am right handed, left eye dominant and shoot right handed, I close my left eye. I've tried shooting left handed and it seemed like too much trouble. Try a left handed bow before you buy, if it works out go for it. Not everybody can have a perfect shooting form, Myself I have a neck movement limitation and shoot better than average. I use a kisser button only. Sometimes you have to find what works best for you, and just because someone tells you your doing it wrong, doesn't mean that they are right. Look at the many different Golf swings,

Try using one of the rear peepsights. I am in the same boat and tried the Hindsight. I liked it but it did not hold light to well. (Maybe because it is about 5 years old) There are some other ones out there now that have lights on them, I will try them when I come up with some cash.(Too many layoffs)

I currently use the C-peep and love it. Cheap ($12.00) and to me works great.

I had an eye injury when I was five that took most of my vision in my right eye. After 5 surgeries and contact lenses I regained about 20/50 vision. I tried to deer hunt using my right eye as I am right handed, and took a few deer, but it became apparent that I was restricting myself as a bowhunter as I couldn't see at all durring lowlight conditions. I made the switch to a lefty bow and after about 15-20 shots I was consistantly back in the 10 ring. The transition was much easier than I thought. Best move I ever made.
