Anyone getting a hunting fever. Eventhough the season just ended I am feeling it now. I just want to go scout or something. Can't wait till October 1. Maybe its just me. Just thinking about bowhunting turns up my blood and gets me through long days.

I do alot of scouting this time of year,it helps you pattern the deer alot better and find thier routes they travel all year round.....I also hit the Whitetails Unlimited Dinners and Other dinners to pass the time seems to break it up a bit.........Mack

True that. I am not sure if I want to try to shoot a turkey with my bow. But then again I ve never tried.

The only thing that bothers be about using a bow is shot placement. I ve seen some turkey shows where if you don't put a good shoot on a turkey that dude is gone.

Shot placement for turkeys is key, maybe more so than with deer, because of a smaller kill area. That being said, consider trying it,and practice, practice, pratice. You will love it,it's a great feeling when it all comes together.Good luck

Thats a good point. I always do.

I think I really want to try bowhunting for turkeys. Do you guys usually use ground blinds when doing this? Using setups with decoys?

I always use a jake and one or two hens, set up real close, like 5-10 yards.A blind is almost a must to conceal the movement required to draw.A blind does not have to be concealed to any extent.Turkeys don't seem to relate to a blind.I've had birds 3 feet away 20 minutes after putting the blind up.Just put it up and hunt.

I agree 100% with don!! Blinds are aqn essential piece to success. Not saying it can't be done without one, only that it certainly helps your success rate with one.;)

Sweet that sounds good. Do you guys use expandables of fixed blade? Or is it just like in deer hunting? A topic that no one can really agree on.

Any broadhead will kill a turkey, but a large cut mechanical is what most people prefer. Not only do you get the extra cut with the larger blades, but you also get more shocking power because of the blades having to open up. Go on over to the turkey forum and do a search for bowhunting....there is lots of information that has been covered, and if you have any other questions feels free to ask.

I would love to see a successful turkey hunt. I have no interest in hunting them, but I have heard that they are tough to get. I have saw the episodes on tv of turkey hunting, and enjoy watching the peculiar birds. Does anyone have any good stories of the weirdest/strangest/smartest things you have saw turkey's do while hunting them.

A friend of mine has video of 2 Toms fighting it out and attempting to mount his hen decoy during a hunt. I'll see if I can dig that up. It was unreal!!

Last year me and a friend filmed by turkey hunt. We got great footage of it coming in and me shooting it. It was a blast. There wasn't much of a beard but getting it on film was a event in itself.
