Does anyone know if you can buy a Mr Heater propane filter for the buddy heater over the counter or do you have to order it from Mr Heater?
If you know a store that carries them could you please post it here.
Thanks alot

Thanks Finn - I will give Gander a try
Maniac - The filter is what they recommend for using the heater with the bigger tanks.
I want to use a 5# tank but I hear a lot of people having problems with the heater after using the bulk tanks without the filter.
Can anyone else chime in on this?
cabelas, meijer, and i think i saw them a walmart. back by all the coleman stuff.got one at cabelas last week but i have not used it yet. looks like it just screws on like the bottles and you just hook the hose up to it;)

Yes, i seen it on the other post. My only question is why? When you get your bulk tank filled at the store, there supply tank has a filter on it, and filters it before it goes into your bulk tank. I never have had a problem with my heater because of dirty propane. Is this common?

Tractor Supply has them.... I put one on this year. My understanding is using the 20lb refills you can introduce contaminates (from the refilling) into the heater. I notice after mine runs a while the pilot will "shrink" and then let the thermocouple cool and shut off... This is with a nearly full 20lber I am thinking I need to clean it... however I never think about it until deer season is underway.

I think there is also an issue with the oils/contaminates being released from the adapter hose. The filter goes between the hose and the heater and stops the junk from gunking up the works.
Looks like cheap insurance.
Thanks for all the info guys, I called Gander in Utica and they never heard of it so I will check TSC and Meijer.
Thanks again,

i think those filters catch more water then dirt...a tiny amount of water will cause hell with any propane system

Bass Pro Shops also carry those filters.
