How many of you put a small snap swivel on your line when you use jigging spoons or do you like to keep as little hardware on your line as possible.

I have never used a snap swivel ice fishing, for 20 years. Lately I have been changing lures so frequently that I thought it would be a good Idea. My fishin buddy had some real small ones so I put one on each of my rods. It doesn't seem to make any difference to the fish, and it is a lot quicker then retying every time you want to change. Catch rate has remained the same.
Good Luck
I use snap swivels, but pre tie the jigs with an 8in leader or so.
But then again, I haven't been changing jigs much. Ususally the
only time I changing is when I go from a small jig for minnows or
wigglers to a spoon with a bead. No leader on the larger spoons.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it....
I use those small snaps as well. But I'll tell you what, when your hands are cold its a B***h to change them.I just make sure I have 4 rods with different lures now.

Swivel about 8-12 inches up from the lure with a flouracarbon leader. I have found the swivel greatly reduces line twist with jigging lures. Sometimes I use a small snap with a Rap or Kens. Otherwise tie directly to the line.

The fast snap work better, and don't effect the action as much.. I don't use fast snap on the jigging raps though!

NOT! I tie a "loop knot" fishing winter, spring, summer or fall...
