Was just given a Clam that has a lot of "ventilation"!!
I don't know what model it is but it is a larger one. It has 2 square and 2 rectangle holes. I looked on the Clam site and a new canvass for the 5600, 6800 and Sleeper models are $$$$$$!
Any suggestions for repairs? Some of the holes are just to big for mans best friend, duct tape!

Thanks!

I had a 5600 w/ some AC. My dad is a master diver and I used some of his wet suit repair patches. I also sealed it w/ some silicone. I was not impressed w/ my clam. Lots of tiny holes along the stitching in the seams. I made some window covers out of some greenhouse flooring. Needless to say, a little hillbilly engineering will do it every time.

Iron on patches work wonders on that kind of stuff! ;)

Push come to shove .......there's always duct tape. Or until you figure out a better repair. Hey they use it in space !

Check around. I hear about some canvas shops around town. I know you are pretty far from Downriver but there is one on Jefferson near Trenton.

I have a similiar problem but my zipper is undone on a Shappel. Anybody have any suggestions?

I keep my shanty(clam) in a storage shed during the offseason. When I went to pull it out this year found out the mice got to it.The wife put over 25 patches on it anywhere from 3"x3"to 7X7".I think I have one of the most unique shanties out there now and I named it "The Patch".So if your out there and see this blue shanty that looks like it has been through a war stop by and say hello!!!!:D :D

I have a similiar problem but my zipper is undone on a Shappel. Anybody have any suggestions? i still have my first shappel. wood floor and all. I sewed denim strips to the material on the zippers and then to the canvas/plastic. have to use a lot of stitches to avoid it seperating again. I used a large enough needle to use 20lb. tip-up line. 20 plus years and still works fine.

They make a product called tare greeze. I was it on my carharts when they got a tare in them or when i burned a hole in them welding, works great Local hareware stores might have it. Try home depot.Or a welding shop Or call around looking for it. Its worth your time
Its a glue and you will need patch materal. Good luckl!

Clam has pretty good customer service. Give them a call and ask. I did the same and the offered to send me a patch kit for free. They may do the same for you.

The makers of that fine product gorilla glue also make gorilla tape! Worked ok on the test set-up. We'll see how it works in the real world this weekend!
