Although I prefer mechanicals alot of the guys on here shoot G5 Montecs...Prolly one of the most talked about fixed blade on here.. IF you do a search on G5 or Montec I am sure you will come up with boat loads of good info...

I was very happy with NAP Nitrons (2 kills this past seasons) and they fly well (no adjustment between field tips and broadheads.

I shoot the G5 mono tech and love them. When I change from my field tips to my broadheads they always shoot the same.

I shoot the G5 Montech 100 and I do not have to make any adjustment form my field points to the broadheads! I love them and will never shoot anything else. Plus they make a traget version that is not super sharp and only cost $20 for a pack of 3. That way you are not dulling down your broadheads. Added bonus is they are super easy to sharpen on a diamond steel or the montech stone.
Best broadhead on the market!!!!

Here's a site dedicated to testing broadheads. Very informative and with pictorial evidence to back up the testers contentions. http://btreviews.proboards57.com/index.cgi

Ditto Dtrain - 2 kills with a 58# old Proline this year, 1 kill each of the previous two years. Nitrons fly and kill well.

Not to mention some of the SHARPEST! I would recommend the Tricks too.

NAP nitrons have worked great for me the past few years. I can interchange them with my field points and get dead on accuracy. I can't say that for every set up. But there a good alternative if you don't want to shoot expandables.

I use G5 Montech 100. They fly very true to the field tips. I took three deer this year using the same broadhead. I tried a lot of different ones before settling on these.

Lets not forget the the Montech is a cut-on-contact broadhead!

I am gonna try the Montecs next year but right Now I am using crossfire's and they fly exact to my field tips actually split my field tip arrow:eek::yikes: They spin of the arrow so they are very accurate! I killed 2 deer last year one being a buck and they went about a hundred yards;):D

I love the Montecs. Solid one piece construction. No worries about loosing a blade in the animal. Easy to sharpen, they last a longtime too.
sthiede,
i shoot 60 pounds 29" DL for hunting also. i only shoot 100 grain heads. my first year i shot 5 deer with 2 different mechanicals. the first 2 with a rocky mountain 3 blade snyper. perfect broadside shots, double lung @ 15 and 18 yards from a treestand 20 feet up. on both of those deer i didn't pass thru, one the head punched out the other side, the other only left a small puncture one the opposite site. almost no blood trail but the deer were down within 50 yards, it devasted the deer, terrific damamge. i switched to NAP spitfires and took 3 deer with them, 2 pass thru's 1 sticking out the other side, these opened up a HUGE hole. dead deer, none of them ran more then 100 yards but i didn't like that i wasn't getting a pass thru on good shots. i didn't hit any solid bone. this year i shot the boss SST(discontinued) 4 blade and WOW huge hole and a dead buck in 30 yards. blood EVERYWHERE. and i shot the ABC's sonic pro's 100 for 3 deer. looking at these heads they look TINY! but they fly great and they leave two huge holes, i had great blood trails and very short blood trails. but whatever broadhead you choose make sure it is razor sharp, spins true, and practice with it. put one through both lungs and that deer is dead once you hit it IMHO. good luck and have fun. so many heads, so little time;)

G5 Montec. Best head I've ever used from Wild Boars to Elk and everything in between.

give some consideration to the G5 Striker broad heads as well. I switched to Striker's last year and have taken a couple of deer with them. I'm very happy with how they shoot compared to a field tip. I'm using the 100 grain model with Maxima Hunters and an Outback at 70lbs.
I got tired of waiting for Slick Tricks last summer/fall as that was what I intended to use but couldn't find any. I decided to go with the Striker and will probably just stick with them at this point.
I've heard great things about the slick tricks and don't doubt they are a good broadhead but thier distirbution channels leave something to be desired. The Sonics are a little small in diameter for my tastes. I haven't tried the G5Montec but have heard a lot of good things about them as well. At any rate, that's my recommendation for what it's worth.
Check this out, pretty good test!!!

Well one things for sure, the guy writing the review doesn't know all that much considering that he's callling G5's offering the "Monotech" instead of Montec and then the B-52 a "G5 Monotech B-52." Hard for me to take a "serious" test seriously when they don't even know the name of the head they tested. But that is only my opinion.;)

I've tried quite a few broadheads but I keep coming back to the muzzy 100 grain three blade, I get pass throughs and the deer is dead within 100 yards. Last year I shot a buck and watched him go down in 30 yards. Just my opinion, good luck with what ever you choose.
