I would say yes and I have owned both. I think that it cuts better and you have the ability to open old holes.

If a mora is all you have and you have new blades on it, it's not a bad auger.. By far not as easy or long lived (blade wise) as a laser. I keep my mora in-case I loose my laser on the ice.

i too have a mora you can have!!! come get it & try it first. it won't even make it off the ice cause after you catch your breath, you will chuck that thing as far as you can.
ps. i think the 6" is plenty big enough. imo..

If its a lazer it will go through easy. 4-6-8 inch. I like the 8" sure its a little harder but I can fish 2 rods through the hole. drill 2- 6 inch or one 8 inch. plus I like looking down and seeing fish. I did have a 6 inch once and it was ok.

Thats a great price for Lazer auger.
A mora is better than no auger though.

With brand new blades the Mora's not bad. The problem is, the blades don't seem to stay sharp for very long.
And as for changing blades, those Kevlar fishing gloves work pretty good for protecting your hands.
used moras for years, bought a lazer last year and will never go back.if i knew how much better they were i would have paid double what i paid honestly.got a couple cheap moras if anyone is interested..:D

Laser by a long shot. I have a mora and the blades do not last long. My buddy has a laser and is in his second season on the original blades. They still cut great. I have a seven inch. Sometimes I get tired by cutting holes. I notice a big difference in going down in size. I would pick a six inch auger as your best bet.

I had an 8" mora to start with years ago, went to a 6" mora for ease of drilling, got the lazer 6" when they 1st came out and never looked back. I spend a lot of time on the ice and punch LOOOOOOOOOOOTS of holes and the lazer blades, while more expensive, will out last the mora blades 4-1. This is the 4th season on my blades and it still cuts over 1/2" per crank.
You guys that have the lazer and need new blades heres what i found out today from strikemaster. You can send them back to them wraped in paper and a brown envolope plus shipping for 17.95 and they will exchange them for you. Thats half the price off new ones. I had five sets of them and i am going to send them in shipping ruturn was 6.50heres there phone number if any one is intersted. 1 763 263 8999 I hope this can save you some money turn over is about one week.

I will be buying one very soon!!!!!!!:) :D my broinlaw got his off ebay for 90 it has a wood handle and a case. Anybody Else use one? check out the one at cabelas for 79.99:fish:

WELL if I were to buy one tommorrow the lazor that is what size 6" 7" 8" ??
If you are almost exclusively targeting panfish, 6" is more than enough, plus gives you a chance to handle a pike or eye. If you know you want to fish pike/eyes alot, 8". IMHO though, the 8" cuts significantly harder than the 6". I own both and take the one that is most appropriate for what I am targeting. Never tried the 7". Would be interested to know how it cuts, compared to the 6". If it is not much harder, I might consider selling both my 6 and 8 and buying a 7.

I have used both a 6 and an 8. I would go with the 6" I have pulled plenty of nic fish out of a hole that size. 8" is a bit over kill unless you know you are gonna consistently be catching large fish.

well I went to dicks on hall rd. to finally pick up a lazer 6in auger. they were sold out! I guess I should have kept my mouth shut! anyways there are still to 8in lazers left and about 4 mora in 6in and 2 in 8in. I can't wait to get out in the morning.:fish:
good luck all
i have the 7" and it is nice. if you like to sight fish like alot do at LSC bigger is better, get the 8" but i have a sonar so i dont stare down the hole so much anymore and the 7 is still pretty big.i did lose a nice pike at fairhaven last year in a 4 or 5in hole someone else made, i could not get it through and it finally broke off. guess i should'nt have been hole tresspassing:lol:

I have the 5" and 7" Strikemaster and love em both. I think that my pop bought the mora 30 years ago when I was a kid to torture me. There was the same discussion on Walleyecentral last week. People were throwing thier Strikemasters under the bus in favor of the Nils Master auger. They sound pretty sweet. You can purchase the Nils hand auger and then buy the power head and make it power. For the amount of Ice fishing I do I'll stick with my Laser.

the mora vs lazor by strike king is it worth $20.00 more for the lazor:confused: get the smallest lazer you can find...a 6" hole is more than twice as much ice as a 4 inch hole....and there aint a perch in lake st clair that wont go thru a 4 inch hole, including a hole with a vexilar puck hanging in it....my 4 inch lazer is 5 yrs old and still cuts over one half inch per crank....10 cranks is 6 inches of ice...
