Went out in the cold yesterday and got our limit. Thank god for the heater! Had my best day yet! Morning bite was great but was pretty steady all day. Fished from 8-130. Caught probably 125 between 2 of us and left with 98. Caught 12 fish over 10 with 2 of them going 11 3/4". Water was clear in the morning aand got cloudy as the day went on. Got 3 gills to go with them with one real nice slab! Well worth the frozen walking in and out! Got some pics and should have them up by tonight!:D

Hi Jiggineyes, Thank you for the report on Cotton Road. My hubby and I are heading out there this morning. We have been fishing off Beacons Cove for the last three days and nothing but dinks.....
Can you tell me where to park for lake access in that area. The launch at the foot of M-59 seems like a long walk from Cotton Road and we don't have our four wheeler up and running yet.
Thanks, Laura

Its tough parking over and around that area.....With a hot bite going on, its going to be real tough to park. There is a lot across Jefferson from the access point at Cotton that you can park. Good luck....

Theres a lot at the corner of cotton rd. and jefferson or the guy at the dead end (which is the access) has an open lot and he lets you park for $5 if the other lots full

Donna will let ya park for $5 and I also believe she is running the Ice Taxi this year as well. She gets lots of fishing reports and can put ya on the fish!

Hey guys, THANK YOU for the replies! We parked in the lot on the corner there at Jeff and Cotton....small lot but what a blessing! You REALLY have to appreciate the people who provide parking for ice fishermen!!!
Anyway, fished out to about 7 FOW working our way slightly left from the access but water was cloudy and just a few small fish. Guys fishing 1/2 mile "north" of us did pretty good though. They had about 50 decent perch in the bucket.
We ended up moving up the bay "north" and found the fish in 2 fOW just south of Lottiview! WOW. That's fun fishing when they are that shallow!!!!
Thanks for directing us up to the Cotton road area Jiggineyes.

Thanks for the report DL.... See any quads or sleds out there yet??

Hi Salmonslammer, Yes, there were sleds and four wheelers running off of Cotton Road. Sleds were in close to shore racing.....some bikes out to about 300 yards. Ice was app. 6-7 inches thick, but with that wind yesterday and the cold it was booming and crackling like crazy. Very un-nerving, but hey, that's ice fishing.
We moved north and fished south of Lottivue (clearer water) and saw some bikes running there too, close to shore. There are a LOT of ice jams up close to shore and the guys on the bikes did not take them out past the second ridge about 75 yards off shore.
Hope this helps, be safe out there!

D and l did you notice any quads coming from S.A.N.G ? That may be the way to go to avoid the parking issue. If I take my quad out I would be willing to give M S guys a lift.

That a way Skid, You can make some freinds real quick doing that:) !!!!!! Until i get mine next year, I might just take you up on that. Really dont mind walking either, good way to burn off some of the Mid Section.....in the middle of winter.

Hi Skid,
After today's scouting, we "personally" would run our quad up and down the shore from the access point at Cotton Road and Jefferson.
As for guys using the ramp at the foot of M-59 (SANG) to access the Cotton Road area, I could not tell you...
Farther "north" of Cotton Road and Jeff, up by the point of land that juts out, I would be REALLY careful, there are lots of ice jams and it seems a little shakey to venture out too far, or over them. I would really stick close to shore if you go that way!!! Be safe!
BTW: That's cool, offering rides!!!! Same goes for us...Look for a guy and a skinny gal in a black Iditarod suit (not too many out there) on a Honda quad pulling a fish trap Yukon sled...we will accomodate you any way we can....
