Hey all,

Since I am a teacher, I was given the gift of today off. Of course, the first thought in my mind is about fishing! My question is should I even venture out in this cold. I have a clam 2000 shelter and a heater, but I am worried about the wind. I was out Saturday on the big lake, and it was rough to say the least. We did catch our first "ice fishing" fish of the year though! That really got me wanting to go out again and soon. If anyone wants to head out today with me let me know. I have an open seat.... as long as it isn't too cold!

Thanks,

MDH

with the shanty and heater its not bad at all. Was out from 8-2 yesterday and the wind wasnt bad with the shanty. Limited out yesterday! Water is clear in the morning but cloudy in the afternoon so id get out asap! Fish are on the bite with no pressure systems movin in right now!

Looks like I'll be heading out early afternoon until dark. Got my buddy to go with me! As soon as I get my "chores" done around here I'll be on my way. I'm heading to the Crocker launch to try. How deep should we go? I'll post any and all results tonight!

Thanks,

MDH

They should generally be deeper. Got into them in 7.5' yesterday. Good luck

It is always worth it to me. When temperatures are above 10 degrees I generally go out without a shanty. With temps like we are having now I use a small portable that doesn't have a floor and I do not use a heater. Good boots, a hood, and some gloves for the walk (can't wear goves while fishing) and you should be good to go!
