Talked to a friend of mine down there. He said with this wind, alot of ice got piled up.
He's gonna check it out the next couple of days. He promised to take me out for some of those big wallys.

I live in Bolles Harbor half the year and my dad and friends told me today most, if not all the ice in the area has blown out due to the wind in the last few days.

After getting skunked at LSC yesterday we got off on exit 11 to check the Bolles Harbor conditions. We saw three shanties by Mathews bait and spoke to two guys out fishing Bolles Harbor. We decided to hit the ice at 5:30 AM Sunday fishing the docks by Mathews. My co-worker, his 10 year old son and my 22 year old step son pulled into Mathews, The 10 year old and I hit the ice first, I noticed what looked like a freshly frozen over hole through milky white ice. As I stood on the ice I felt it give and I told Logan ( 10 year old
) to get back on the dock, I threw the gear I had on the dock and leaned on it. My buddy stepped off the side off the side of the dock and put his foot right through. We drove up to Bolles Harbor and saw where the water had blown out, breaking the shore ice and then refreezing. We decided to call it a day and go home. On the way back to the van I looked over my shoulder and saw the 10 year old about to jump onto the white ice. I spoke to him in terms I'm not sure his father did not appreciate but at the time it scared me and I shared the feeling. Be careful out there, on the portion of Erie we are on the shore ice is fresh and not safe!

the edges are going to be crap. bring an 8 or10 foot plank with you to get away from the shore but spud your way to be sure. we had to do this all the time after the water blew out. same way at the banana dike.

I have had to use a plank at the Matthews docks before.
