Going to head to the island in the morning to try my luck, don't think I want to try the lake til a little nicer day. If there's anything to report I'll give a shout.

good luck out there harry! if ya wanna hook up to try some more fishing out there (never really have done much ice fishing on the island), i'd really like to head out with someone that knows a little something out there.

No problem Steve, I should be at Blue Water around 7am. Blue F-350 w/matching cap. Will check my PM's before I leave in the morning(5:30 or so).

Around 7:00 am...i should just be turning on espn or Vs. to watch some fishing shows and have a mug of coffee......Have at it Harry!!

Im being a wimp this weekend.Im going to wait till the wind lays down.Hopefully I dont have to wait the rest of winter.

I've found those video fish lethargic and almost tasteless......but your risk for frostbite will be noticably lower. When you only get the chance to go every other weekend, weather is NOT going to get in the way. It may determine where, but not IF.

with the weather predictions and the super bowl.....I'll thaw out about 5 walleye from the summer....and have a SUPER sunday:lol: .........I think you need a full weekend of crappie fishing up on Houghton Lake with Ian and myself in a few weeks to get you out of the working blues Harry!!.....Hopefully sooner or later those crappies will start bitting!!

Sorry for the late reply, took a limit of gills and crappies. Took quite a while to get them going(operator error). Pike were EVERYWHERE! Couldn't keep them away. Hooked two(one on bare hook, Supermag Firetiger)and the other larger fish came off, same bait. Hard to set the hook with authority on 3# test.

Glow bug eye was the ticket. Saw some monster gills and crappies, but they had no interest beyond looking. Getting out of the shanty and moving around(14 shanty holes the size of a 5 gal bucket later) and I was into the fish. All holes were marked and as cold as it was, were probably walkable by morning.
