Anyone been ice fishing the Au Gres river lately? Thinking of going up there Sunday morining. I really don't want to go out on the Bay in this weather, and the Sag river isn't producing much but small eyes. Looking for perch mostly, just thawed out the last of the ones I had in the freezer for dinner tonight, and I'll be gettin' desperate for more soon. Thanks for any info.

I have not fished it, but my buddies were catching undersize walleye, no perch action to report at this time. If I hear anything, I will post in the Saginaw Bay forums.

I did fish the Au Gres river this morning, -5 degrees with nasty wind. Fished right out from the boat launch, 1 sub-legal eye. Went up to Tawas at about 10:00, quite a few shantys out from Jerry's marina. Was going to try it for a while, but the wind was just whipping. So I came back home and fished the Kawkawlin river by the old train bridge. Started out slow with a small walleye and four keeper perch in about 2 hours. Then after about 4:30, it was steady action on perch with the best coming from 5:00-5:30. Kept 41 most 8-10 inchers with about 10 or so throw backs. Lots of machines up and down the river, but didn't seem to bother the fish. Only saw one other shanty upstream closer to State Park drive. I'll post a pic tommorrow. Minnows on small swedish pimples, water was about 5.5-6ft.
