41st Annual Ice Fishing Derby in Fenton

The Izaak Walton League of America, Fenton Chapter Defenders of Woods, Waters and Wildlife Presents The 41st Annual Ice Fishing Derby.

17465 Hickory Ridge rd. Fenton

Registration starts at 8am. Derby time goes from 10am to 2pm.. Free for children 14 and under. Adult fishing contest is at same time.

Free Raffle for the children Adult raffle is also there.

All you can eat breakfast:D from 8am to 11am. Includes Eggs, Sausage and Pancakes. All ages = $4.00

Kogel Hot Dogs, Brats, Chips & pop Available for lunch at 11:30am to 3:00pm.

This event is on FEBRUARY 10th.

Tournament includes: Smallest fish, Biggest fish and Most fished (limits win by weight) Cash prizes 50/50 payout.

Also there will be a Campfire by the lake, Sledding and Ice skating.

I think rules will be explained there. Its a kids event to, i think some guy comes in and teaches about icefishing ect...

Anybody know what type of fish are present ??
I'm assuming gills,crappie,perch.But I was wondering if we should bring tip-ups for pike/walleye ? Any info is appreciated.
We met the I.W. representatives at the Rock Fishing Show,Great Guys! Seems like an awesome time for the kids.Hope to make it. Mark

There is pike in the lake. I think there even a pike tourny going on to..
Call the number i gave at the bottum of the first post. He can tell you EVERYTHING you need to know..I'm just kinda passing along the info:)

It is Baker lake. its private and well isolated from overfishing. I know from experience that there are some nice bluegill, perch, and bass in the channels of the lake. i have never been on the main part of the lake though. Also does anyone know how much entry fee is for adults in the contest. I wouldnt want to bother the guy if someone here already knows. Thanks.

$5 gets you in the tourny. I talked to one of the guys and there are some awesome raffle prizes, a shanty is one of them! $5 gets you 6 tickets or $1 for 1. The biggest fish wins the adult tourny. Form what i here, the lake is well stocked with Pike, Walleye, Gills,Crappie, Perch, Catfish,Bass and everyone's favorite Dogfish! So bring those tip-ups if you want a shot at the 1st place prize for the tourny.

I caught 13...My dad was the winner of the adult contest with a 10 3/4" Crappie :lol: . It was a $123 dollar fish so dont bash it ;) . Will post pics...

What a great time. First time doin this and my boy and I had a blast.
Nice bunch of people. Shane I was fishin right by you I think.We ended up settn up next to a bud of yours (Jake maybe??) my son walked over to see the speck you guys got.We ended up keeping 15 gills, threw back about30..

Yep, Jake is one of my team mate's for our shooting team. Funny how that Crappie on then eh? I saw you guys over there, blue shanty?

It sucked, i was on a roll with the fish..The the guys to the left of me power augered (for that long time:dizzy: ) and i stopped catching fish.. Ended up total between me and my dad over 40+fish and kept about 25 of em..Good time!
