Anyone have any feedback about the aqua-vu vertical pixel graph.
Thanks

It's not bad. It's not GREAT. It performs the same as my Zercom unit that is over 10 years old. The cold weather feature is nice. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 6.

I picked up one and have used it last weekend. I'm not an experienced ice fisherman, but I liked it. Simple to use. I could see my bait. Granted we didn't have any fish come in, so I can't say much other than that.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll pick one up, there is currently a $30 mail in rebate offered. I read a review on Cabelas web site where the major complaints were that if you are near friends with Vexilars it will interfere and the LCD heater might not be adequate in very cold temps.

I guess we'll find out this weekend. I don't have friends with vex's and I'm in a shanty. I know that when in the ice mode, the screen/head did feel warm like it is supposed to. I also think there is an interference rejection type mode on it.

I would buy a Vex or Marcum. The color seperation is where it's at.

I don't like the buzzing noise made by a Vex, I sold my fl-18 last year because it annoyed me.

Mark, didn't you post that you just used a vex for the first time the other weekend and don't actually have one? I'm not flaming you, I'm just pointing it out. I know alot of people say that for the price you should search ebay or the classifieds for a used vex. That's not always timely and sucessful. I got the vpg with the rebate. I probably don't use a vpg to its fullest, so I'd never use a vex to it's fullest. For ease of use and price, the vpg was for me.

How much was your unit??? I have been looking into getting a flasher but don't want to spend / can't spend that kind of money right now... been checking ebay some older units under $100.... which is all I need ... I need a unit that will read depth and my tear drop and show fish need nothing major...
So i was wondering how much yours was ???

They are 229 then a 30 rebate. It's not super cheap, but it's brand new, has a warranty, new battery, etc.

You're right, no offense taken. But I can't imagine looking at black and white when there's color available, even if it is about $100 more. It's all preference. I know I'm saving up for a Vex, because I've seen the VPG and it looks like it's too hard to tell what's what. Just my opinion. I hope you enjoy your VPG. Afterall, you gotta like your equipment. If I don't like it, it doesn't matter.

That's the plan. If I get more and more into ice fishing maybe I'll want to spend even more money. When the screen is backlit it's easy to see. I could tell the difference between a teardrop jig and a rapala by the "signature" it left. I know some people think there is a lag, I guess I'm not fast enough to see it. If I was moving my bait I saw it right there. Had the camera watching it too and everything seemed in sync.
I picked mine up at Cabelas. I drive by it everyday and when BPS opens outside of Toledo, I'll probably drive by it most everyday as my office is about 2 miles east off 795.

No, no company car and no scantily clad ladies at breakfast, unless I'm having a great morning at home, but that's a whole other thread.

I like my VPG, and with the rebate it ended up only being $200 brand new from BPS. For a little more the Lowrance looks nice with color.
I really like that it is silent, I can't stand the noise that a vexilar makes, one thing I really like about ice fishing is quiet (other than high speed snowmobiles and gas augers!). Color doesn't matter that much to me, and I really like the vertical format to match the water column. I had no problem seeing my jig and even the little splitshot I had on the line. It really helped me locate the fish on the bottom and I was able to go down and see when I was pulling them up from the bottom a little. It also helped me detect some really light bites, when it looked like a fish should be on the line I pulled in and there was a fish.
All in all I am happy with it and I have caught several fish that I would not have without it.

My VPG is in the mail from reedssports.com. I went to Dicks and Gander Mtn. and they new nothing of the $30 rebate offered at reedssports.com, so they lost out and so did Michigan sales tax.
Shhhh! I'm hunting boogills, Uh Uh Uh Uh Uh.
Vexilars vex me.

I was in there last week with a client/customer/subcontractor. He had never been. He asked what was good on the menu. I told him that it really didn't matter.
