Fished Lake Fenton yesterday late in the morning til 3 or so. Already been to the boat launch with little action, so started at crane's cove. First spot maybe 12 fow, no action w/in 15 minutes so time to move. Moved deeper, maybe 20 fow, as soon as we put lines in and jigged there were the pike. Partner hooked into 3 real quick, one looked to be nice, he missed. I hooked into nothing, actually think that I was bringing them in with violent jigging but he was getting all the action on his minnow on a big teardrop like lure. After landing 2 it slowed so we moved again, not far, maybe 50', sitting on maybe 26 fow. Sat down again to quick action, I pulled one in on my favorite copper swed. pimple tipped with a minnow. Pike was decent 25-28, put em back into the water. 3 for the day, what a blast. But I would really like to get into some of those elussive walleyes that are supposed to be in that lake. Anybody care to share any info? :help:

Ice was good for us 6" or so. Talked with a fellow, he said that going out around the island was still shakey since there was still open water last week. Ideally this is where I would have fished. The "Saddle"

pike has been about the only action so far.....blah.

I wouldn't spend time targeting walleye, unless you like to be disappointed a lot.

Oh Yes...The elusive Lake Fenton Walleye..kinda of have to laugh as i lived on that lake for several years and ice fished it nearly everday there was ice..i hunted walleyes all over from jigging to tip ups and i will tell you that if you catch one you better go to the local party store, purchase a a michigan millions lottery ticket because luck is on your side for the day..caught my share of them..oh maybe 15 in seven years..then take the number of days icefished..hmm, maybe 70, 75 days and that just doesnt add up to productivity! The pike fishing can be fun but i think lake fenton is a perfect example of a lake that has good potential to grow big ones but something is very off balance in that lake. There is however another lake nearby that i have done better but you need to be careful as a certain local small river creates a bit of current to the left of the launch leaving the ice a bit shady..

fish on.

I am interested in going after those elusive walleyes in this lake. I have done very, very good in the summer on this lake but have not fished it much thru the ice. Any takers for a trip PM me.

I have been up on the north end scuba diving in the summer and seen all them 'eyes stacked up on the boats and pontoon that are sunk up there. I haven't been up to that end on the hardwater but it might be worth a shot. Have also seen nice schools of specs just suspended right at the thermocline in that area.
