Interesting that we have not heard much about that big lake in downtown Fremont.

By now it should have froze over.

Alex, haven't fished it yet this year. Heard its spotty ice in the middle but ok close to the north launch. From the reports at the local sport shop you'd do better fishing other places. The run of the mill 4 to 5 in. perch and nothing yet on eyes.............with this cold snap I would assume by Sunday the entire lake will be fair game.

I would agree with the above statement.
However you have to fish where the fish are in order to catch them and I just think those areas have not been explored by the people fishing yet.
There have been a couple guys here consistently this week so I would have to think they have been catching something or are just gluttons for punishment.

I'm hoping to venture out one day this week & pound some jiggin' raps to see what I can see....
If I have any news - I'll let you know Alex.

The lake I really want to get on is Big Blue. If the big one in Fremont is that close to froze over then it is a good bet that the other one is all the way over and walkable over most of its surface.

Only thing is that I can't leave until it looks like the weather has settled down. All these chances of it snowing enough for me to go plow the senior citizens complexes is keeping me tied down to staying around here.

I think I read somewhere that one's already being fished......

Should be good2go.

Stopped on my way home from work last night, and someone was out on the point, saw the lantern and the tracks going that way. Swung by this am (bout 8:30) and again there was someone out on the point.

With what I saw on Hardy tonight, I'd have to say the Freek should have 4"-6" over in that area.

Hey Ed, how much ice was out on hardy? Anyone out yet? I'm always hesistant to head out during the winter cause of lowering the water levels. But during the open water season, fun place to fish!

Mostly 5-6 inches of ice (non current area). Some sled tracks running down the pond. Water is about 5' lower than summer levels (kinda funny seeing zebra mussles on branches at eye level).

The ice was not magically levitating above the water ... it was floating on top of it, just like always. I found out there is still one fish in that pond ... he is still there, cause I missed it.

Friday afternoon hit the south launch on Fremont. Three shanties out not very far. Tried to venture out towards the point but could not make it out that far. You can see some spots of frozen slush and all it took was a couple wacks with a spud and you were through. There was about four inches where I set up in 23 foot of water but ten yards away ice was questionable so if you head out that way watch your step.
Caught some perch but they were all small.
