Caught a limit of Eyes tonight in a Grand River bayou. About 4" of good ice there. Picked up couple between 5:00pm and dark and 3 more between 10:00 - 11:00 pm. The early fish were on golden shiners under a bobber. The later fish all came on a Super Glo Buckshot Rattle Spoon tipped with a small minnow head. I missed a few fish on the minnows and lost one at the hole too. Had alot of fish coming in to look at jigs during daylight but just would'nt bite until after dark. Sure am enjoying my new Vexilar. Makes ice fishing a different ball game. Just put a nice pic of tonights catch in my gallery, don't know how to attach.

Nice Job RiverKat.
keep up the good work.
Do all the bayous get good ice? I'd say so. I don't fish alot of them, but the ones I've fished have always had good ice when the weather was right for making ice. Some dandy Specs available also in most of the bayous. Northerns too.

Well if you can't figure out where he was fishing then go fishing. In my opinion there is only one bayou on the Grand south of GR that will have walleye, specs, pike, plus good gills. I lived on that bayou till I moved north.

I am going to guess he was fishing in about 8-12ft FOW. There is a hole just to the east of the landing on this bayou. That will hold these fish. When I was kid spearing shacks would line the banks all the way to the river.

I've been fishing the grand river system for 20yrs or better now. There's only a few spot's/ bayou's,lakes that the grand that will hold walleye's all year. Yes you hear about the guy once in a while who catch's a walleye on accident, but to go out and target walleye's day after day is tough too do.

The gravel pit's used to be the best place to catch winter walleye's in the general area. I've been fishing there up until last week when the river froze accross and flooded the shore at the pit's . It's been hard to find fish out there. I put my camera down to see a couple small perch and one dog fish is kinda tough.

I havent fished the pit's real hard now for the last 5yrs. This year I've hit it almost every day up until last week. Still have yet to catch a walleye there. I can rember 5yrs ago going out there a catching a limit of real good fish like they were coming from a barrel. So now I'm not sure what's going on out there, just kinda puttin in my time.
