I'm in the market for a new bow soon and I'm starting to do my research. My XI Ledgend Magnum has been an awesome bow and I've taken a lot of deer since I bought it new the second year it was out.... But it's tired and I want new gear...

I would like everyone's opinion, pros/cons about the Oneida bows. They facinate me and I like the traditional look to them. So, I'd like to have some things to consider. I know there are many other bows on the market and from what i can tell, even Darton is making some quality stuff now...

However, the Oneida is in a class of it's own as far as asthetics go, everything else looks the same. However, I am interested in function... for owners and former owners of this machine, tell me what you like and didn't like about it...

Thanks in advance!!

I used to use them. I loved Oneida bows for the longest time. I just starting using something else and never really went back to them. I shot my fair share of deer with them also. I had an Aero-force 80 for 2 days and shot a deer with it. Turned around and sold it to a friend a week later and he shot one also. Re-stringing them is a task. A lot of bow shops don't like working on them though.

Loud and heavy . You might want to check one of the similar Monster bows as well .

Yes the older models were heavy, yes Oneida's tend to be loud, but thats mostly a "tunning" issue they can be made to be very quite with just a few items and some "tunning", keep in mind untill very recently that oneida's came with NOTHING as far as noise suppresion items, while everybody else had a few items on the bows from the factory, and do whats refered to as a supertunning and some mole skin a string bats they will be as quite as anybody out there. People had problems with them in the past cause they would take them to dealers who know not much about them and put them in a bow press YOU CANT DO THAT EVER!!!!!!, and they would have problems after that and even at times come apart while shooting. On a Oneida you can change all cables-power-yoke-and even the timeing cable- and string in the field in a short time with out a press with just a few tools. I shoot a Pro eagle its a little heavier that the B.E. and E.E. and a little slower, I've blown a timing cable(my fault) not following S.O.P. I have never blew a power or yolk cable or string, I have had the bow for about five years, couldnt tell how many shots I have thru it, I hunt and recreational shoot, no compition shoots at all.

I shot an Aero-Force for 10 years or so. It was and continues to be the smoothest drawing bow I have ever shot. I shoot a switchback now. Like others have already mentioned it is bigger and heavier than the new bows out but I wouldn't hesitate in recommending that you try them out. I hear the new models are really nice.

Best of luck.

Check out Monsterbows. These guys have taken the Oneida "look", and perfected it. Their design simplifies this type design, has a very smooth draw, is not heavy or a pain to tune. If you are looking for a bow of the Oneida look, a Monster is the one.

Al, if interested, I have a 2006 Black Eagle that's been shot about 50 times. It was a bought as a camp bow/back-up, but I already had 1 back-up and now 2 buddies bought new bows and we have back-up bows up he ying yang.
To be honest, I don't know what it's worth, being barely used and all. Anyone know a fair price for a mint BE? Let me know if interested and I'll let it go at a price that's fair to both of us. I'm going to get some of those new 22' Ameristep ladders, so the $ will go there. ;)

You should be able to get around $500.00 for it. I know you won't have to much trouble selling it on Ebay for that price. If you have a red dot on it then you can get more. Is it the newer BE II? I guess if its the older version then maybe around $450.00?

500.00 or so is about right. Check out the Oneida forum at www.oneidaeaglebows.com

There's a classified section there and it should sell fast.

Probably doesn't apply to anyone but myself but I'm shooting Oneida because it's one of the few compounds that are easy to set up to shoot off the shelf. I'm a retired recurve shooter and am shooting an Oneida instinctive off the shelf. Mine is an older Bobcat or Bobcat II and I think it's plenty quiet and very smooth. I love it.
