fished in 12 foot of water east of the sag river earlier today.
I got 1 5 pounder.
we went out from callahan rd there were a couple open spots near some ice piles but most of the ice was about 5 inches.
we used our snowmobiles tomorow I will be causiosly taking my quad.
it did feel good getting a fish on and landing it.
anyone fishing near state park I know yesterday they had a few machines go in the new ice that was forming just off shore so be carefull.

hawg hunter,
you must have been in that group of shanties that was out past me to the SE. i walked out, you all drove out. i checked the ice all the way out, strait out from the road and i never found more than 4"(except where the broken ice is just out from shore) and some places less. i was really shocked to see you guys driving out. i noticed you went south towards parish, then crossed the crack and headed east. is the ice thicker down there? how thick was it where you fished? and in how much water were you in there? i was trying to get in 10-11 fow, but brought too much gear along. that walk was far enough.
...by the way, i fished in 7 fow...didnt do sqaut either. im waiting till we get 6-8" of ice before i venture out with my machine. the ice just varies too much right now for my liking.:gaga: :hide:
thanks.;) :D

Fished the past two evenings on the east side of the bay in 8fow. Around a 1.5 miles out. We checked ice twice at each crack had about 10inches at the first and 7 at the second so we stopped there. Thats about the least amount of ice I like with quads. Only one keeper though with two of us fishing. Did have several fish come in to our seperate shanties each night. Not sure where to go now, there was some people going out of Linwood yesterday at least a mile from what we could see for shore. One guy going out told us they had five inches. Not quite enough.
