Fished for Pike this weekend, problem was we had a 6 inch hole. Brought pike to bottom of the ice and only the mouth and eyes would fit in the bottom of the hole. The gill plates and rest of the fish were not coming through. How big do you think a pike of this size would be? Buddy broke the line trying to pull it through.

I don't know but I would have sacrificed my hand in a heartbeat and lipped it like a bass to pull it through if it was that big!

I lost one like that on my dead stick out on sag bay last year...got it to the hole and just couldnt get the damn thing into the hole, its head was approx 10 inches long from what I could tell, I almost cried when the line finally broke, he finally got ticked that i was trying to line him up to the 6" hole and 6# ws no match for the final surge..

I was going to grab the fish, but a little hesitant with a mouth like that. I have a buddy that pulled a 38 inch 12 lb out of that same hole. I was guessing it was over 40".

We had a very difficult time getting our 37 inches through the 6 inch hole. I would guess 34 inches or bigger.

I've seen some fat hens at mid 30's that woulda been like that and also I have seen super thin males in the 40's like that too.

No telling how big it was, but it was big for sure.

Remember, yu can always stick your safty picks (the ones around your neck with the orange handles) through us jaw to keep him propped up while you qucilky drill a bigger hole to grab him by the tail!

Man, I would have had a heart attack just seeing it! Hope you get another shot at it!

I will never take the 6 inch auger for pike anymore. I'll be taking a 10 inch Jiffy from now on. Yeah it was a bummer, but it was own fault for using a 6 inch hole in the first place. Oh well, i'll try for more.

I had to grab and yank a 42 through a 8in hole, so I bet a 34 or bigger would hit a 6in hole?
