Damn it felt good to finally get out last weekend. I bought a brand new Fish Trap Guide in darly December, almost had to wait two months to use it!!
Anyway, it took forever to put the shanty together. I will say, though, that this thing is engineered and designed very well. I was very impressed. When we had it all together, its works awesome. Now I know why I have wanted one for years - what an awesome shanty! The seats are SO comfortable too - sure beats the 5 gallon bucket!
I also got my Marcum LX3 back from its tri color update.
Finally got out on my buddies lake in Oakland County saturday night about 5:30 - 6:00 pm. It was dark and figured we'd go for crappie. Chopped a nice hole, good 4.5 inches solid ice. Down went the glow in the dark jig, a minute or two later up came a nice crappie! We pulled 9 crappie out of that hole in about a half hour.
Chopped several other holes and put out tip ups, but didn't get anything else.
Didnt' really feel like chopping any more holes, so bullshat with another ice fisherman who came by. He gave me a big kudos for the new shanty, and loved the seats also. Enjoyed a few "ginger ales" and went snowmobiling around his place for the rest of the night.
What a great time!! Good ice, great new shanty and fishing equipment, the fish were biting, good friends, nice crisp night with stars and moon, a bit of snowmobiling, doesn't get better than that!!
