Kent lake northern today

Fished Kent today with my brother and a friend . They were in one shanty and I the other. Not much action. Small bluegills and a large Bowfin that went though my brothers shanty. But some time between 5:00 and 6:00 I had this one sneak up on my decoy. I was feeling hungry and I could see pike sizzeling in the frying pan. So I couldnt let it go by. That was about it for the day. Sure was nice to be out the lake with great company. Fish was 33" and must have been as hungy as me if not more.Here are a couple photos, one of its stomach contents.

nice fish, whats the ice looking like now?when i fish pike there i use gills for bait on tipups, about the size of the small one in the pick. they cannot resist

It was about 4" and a little less close to shore with some slushy spots. I hope to make it back out next weekend.

A few years back, I watched several guys using dead bluegills with swedish hooks on their tip-ups catch several nice northerns. I wonder how well they'd work in other lakes?

Am I to believe you got that pike or was it someone with you that let you take a pic. with the fish???? Had I been with you and seen you bring that monster thru the hole, well, it's a very nice pike! Sometimes Whitmore gives up some big brutes on occasion, as well!! Let's make sure if we see each other on the ice let's hook up! Ricky:)

LOL :lol: , Had fresh pike for dinner today. Excellent eat's. If your out there and see a shanty that looks like a large green ice cube, that would be me. I may try and get back out sat. with my girls. Which means more lines in the water plus the spear.:D
