Fished sat morn on the sag river and caught 13 walleyes from 9" to 14". I did'nt see a keeper caught. The ice was 3"" to 6" where I fished by the old nodular plant. I had a perch rig down and took no perch. Sat eve same story with 6 pee wee's, no perch. Caught just as many on perch rigs as I did on raps and buckshots. Went to Vanderbelt park sun morn and was fishing by 7:30. Walked out 1 and a 1/2 miles to 8 fow and caught 1- 18" walleye at first light on a #5 rap. Tried tip ups, jigs and perch rigs, not another bite. Left at 9:30. Ice was 6" to 8" and they were taking snowmobiles and quads out, no problem. I left my machine at home. Oh well the wife say's I need the exercise:p Lets keep the info coming on both sides of the bay, just because of a few dollars for the contest dos'nt mean we can't keep each other informed on coditions and the bite. Good fishin!

I heard the same report for the eastside of the bay. I am in the shiver on the river contest, have not made it out yet. I have a few weeks off work so I plan to fish daily during the week. I hope to get out around Linwood. Much rather fish deeper in the bay and use the quad. Hope we can get out to the blackhole by the end of the contest. I heard Friday night a couple of fish close to 10# were caught north of the Z-Bridge. I just don't trust the river but it is closer.
Not rushing it since I know there is a lot of time left. Better to be safe and wait for good ice. Sounds like the east side ice is setting up well.
Most reports I have heard say the evening bite has been best.

I like the weather forcast.....COLD

I'm with you kingfisher, I don't want a wet ars. 2 or 3 years ago the bite was on the east side, (thomas rd, fish point, and vanderbelt park ) early. Then it shifted to the west side, deep by the black hole. There's no fence around these critters, and they go where they plese. Good fishin!

Buddy of mine went out yesterday morning because he heard good reports. He wanted to get out with the quad. he said he was over 3/4 mile out and had 7" of ice.
I may give it a try. His report was fish after 5:00 PM.
