Hello,
My10 year old daughter is really excited and chomping at the bit for October. I'm glad we have a lot of time and a home range. What kind of rigs and poundages are your 10 to 12 year olds deer hunting with? I'm a recurve shooter and am starting my learning curve so I can get her set up properly. I've shot a Browning Micro Midas set at 35 pounds. Wow! I was pretty impressed. Too heavy for starters though. Thanks and God Bless!

that micro midas is a dream youth bow you can get one that goes down to 20i have the wife shooting the midas with carbon at 45 lbs 100 grain thunderheads and it will rock my targets. i have no fear in her being able to put a deer down with this combo.
i will be setting up my 9year old daughter with a midas

I researched all the youth bows and decided on the Darton Ranger. It has 10 inches of draw length adjustment and draw weight goes from 15-45 lbs. I picked one up for my 7 year old. I figured it will be something he can grow with as he gets older as opposed to only having 10lbs or draw weight that he may outgrow in a year or two. I plan to get him on the Bay this spring shooting carp with it. Just my $0.02.

Hello,
Thanks for the help. I have been searching all over for the "Ranger." All I can come up with is the "maverick." Is this the same bow maybe renamed for 2007? Seems like the Maverick has the same features described for your Rangers. It doesn't seem to be all that easy to find either compared to the Brownings. Do any bow shops carry them so I could look at one? I'm two hours from Jay's Gaylord. Thats probably my only chance. Thanks and God Bless!

I like the micro-midas4 . Its all machined riser, parallel limbs. And when the child gets older you can order different limbs for a small price.

I think that the Parker Buck Shot is the best youth bow out there. Because it has 10" of draw travel 18" to 28" and you don't need a bow press to do it.
Now let's say you buy the 20 to 30 lbs bow, and your child out grows the 30lbs, all you have to do is send $50.00 and the bow back to parker and the will put on the 30 to 40 lbs limbs. Samething goes for the next set of limbs 40to 50 lbs. I think the child can grow with the bow more than say the micro midas.

micro midas is adjustable draws from 18"-28". and no need for a bow press. About same price to upgrade limbs. Also has on of the best warranties out there. PSE's excellent warranty!!!! Top that !! LOL!! LOL !!!! With parallel limbs and machined riser. Hard to go wrong.

I bought my son a Pearson Pathfinder. Great bow. It too has 10" of DL adjustment. I got a great deal on it at Ed's in Clio. I can't remember the exact price, but it was under 200. But, it is a lefty and it was a leftover. I don't know if he has anymore in stock. The only deterent is that are very few Pearson dealers left around here.

pse spyder at 25# smokes!!my 10 year old used one last year and loves it..it adjust from 15-45# and lots of draw.. I am concerned about the ends of the limbs on the PSE. I believe PSE are glued on where the cam is. I had two ends come off holding the cam !! Accolade sports said PSE uses the same thing, and There is no problem. I posted a thread. Jr. Whitetail Bear, a very cheap bow , 40#. but I accept no excuse for coming apart. No one cares and they are still for sale, Wal-Mart. Contacted Att. General. They contacted the company and were told they have had no trouble with the bows, that was the end.
The same thing they told me. I have the bow with the ends off. Thats trouble !! I do not know how to post a picture ! I did not return it as I wanted something done about the saftey of that design ,No use . I am out 80 bucks but I tried. Do not buy a youth bow with glued on ends!!!!
