Doing the Sebewaing outing Sat., but if we come up empty (Don't let Walleyeman2006 read this!) we're lookin' to head one or the other direction Sun. Anyone know the ice conditions and/or of any action off Bayport or Mud Creek? Thanks ahead of time!

Mud creek had 4 inches of ice and the perch were biting. Wildfowl Bay resort has a bunch of minnows and jack spoons.....let's get it on!

Delighted to to report fellow conservationest.Ventured to Caseville yesterday,1/24/07 ,Got a Habor report first, 6 fishermen on 4 inches of ice, solid, they reported fishing had been slow. With that report I was off to local bait shop where owner reported that on monday a fishermen had a camra down at the habor said they seen perch but they were just pushing the bait around, not very aggressive.Well i was off with my minnows to fish public access off Filon Rd, Mud Greek,Ice on Wildfowl Bay as far as the eye could see, spudded near shore, much to my surprise there was 5 inches of solid ice an tracks of atv's, well I put my spud back in my truck grabbed my auger and headed out, got to my perfromance spot, had line in water at 9:30 am,caught two small ones, then the Jumbo's moved in by 11:30 had dozen perch 10 inches or over biggest being 12.5 inches, after that time it was all over smaller fish moved in again and just feeding them through the afternoon. Water clarity was about 4 feet down in 7 feet of water, leave spear at home for now, seems like it's a morning bite on this bay , wish i would have been out first light might have done better, the jumbo's just hammer it!,they don't play with bait, it was a beauty of a day no wind ,i did pretty well considering the moon phase was negitive. Fish On! Fella's

Perch Predator, you said the beauty of the day was no wind?? What Lake were you on?? Yesterday was a very windy and snowy day. You said that you were just feeding the small ones through the afternoon. Your post is at 11:51 a.m. ?? Yesterday. Spear, what are we spearing ?

Geesh, so quick to jump on the new guy!! His post from yesterday states that he fished "yesterday" which would have been the day before his post. And I am guessing he said leave the spear at home because the water was too dirty to see the pike, which are legal to spear. The only thing I don't know about is the wind situation....

Plenty of ice, but the fishing has been really slow. A couple pike speared at PA has been about all that is occuring.

D-Fresh is correct, an read the report correctly, I report the the day as 1/24/07 which was (wed) wind was 5 MPH out of the NE very light,(refering to a nice day to be on the bay). (Past Tense) unlike thursday which was windy the day I submitted the report. AS for the spearing portion of the report, the water was stained and could not see the bottom at that stated depth, perch are tyically bottom dwellers, like there cousins the walleye, it will be diffucult to see fish with that kind of water clarity,so why take a spear?. (Read your fishing Guide) January thur Febuary-Perch. I gave the report not to be slant. But to give an acurate report for those seeking to fish were it could be most profitable, to gain what they are seeking. As I hope to be a truthful companion to the intergity of this of this website. Also all perch caught that day were females, eggs light in color. I hope to get back out there saturday. Hope this clears matters up for you, for those who welcomed me, Thank you. Fish On!

Welcome to the site Perch Predator and don't let plug tug bother you. Perhaps he was having a bad day. If you haven't already planned to do so, why not join the group going out of Sebewaing Sat.

I hear 6-8 inches of ice, but i have no first hand report since i haven't been over that way yet. I would think there would be at least enough to ride out some distance, park, and then walk out as far as you wish.

(Read your fishing Guide) January thur Febuary-Perch.

If you mean spearing perch, the only place in michigan you can do this is on LSC, unless the regs. changed in the past couple weeks.
