I was driving along the lakeshore south of Ludington recently when I saw a spot that looked like a great place to troll for browns/steelhead. The question I have is if it's legal to fish here. I don't want to get too specific about the place because I know that is frowned upon here, but anyone local will probably know what I'm talking about. While looking at the water I also noticed 2 bucks that had to be in the 140 - 160 class range calmly walking along not 20 yards off the road.

no you are not sussposed to get with in 1/2 mile of consumers power plant That's what I was afraid of. Too bad, it looks awesome. I suppose with any kind of offshore wind it would be pretty decent fishing out from there. An inshore wind I suppose would blow some warm water up and down the shoreline.
Back in the days before the net was around the plant, boats would troll a loop inside the breakwall and tear up the spring kings that stacked up there along with lots of bait when warmer water was released from the lake. Those days a gone now.

It would be better to have a SW, NW, W wind.

A friend told me a few years back that he met one of the divers who helped maintain (clean out) the consumers power nets. According to the diver, the nets still trap and kill a lot of trophy size fish - ie: monster walleyes.

The nets are located in front of the wall and basically make a half circle around the wall.
