I have a 2002 Tracker, Deep V 16SC, That has a whacko fuel gauge. I can check it right now & it will indicate correctly. After launch & with the motor idling it will be correct. As soon as the throttle is moved, the gauge pegs out at "full".

You're right, sounds like a short, or open circuit. I have checked all the wires I can see. and some I can't see & have the scars to prove it.

Dealer told me it was the sending unit. Replaced it - still the same. While the unit was out the gauge needle movement mirrored the float movement on both units.

I would like to get a wiring schematic to really check the thing out, or re-wire it.

Does anyone have, or know where I can get, a schematic? I've checked the Tracker site & didn't see anything about service there. Bass Pro Shop said they would get back to me - last winter. The local dealer said he would get one & call me - last spring. The dealer just started selling trackers & would have told me anything. I have also emailed two other dealers & got no response.

Any ideas where else to go?

Thanks for your help.

I have the same boat except its an 04 Pro Guide V16 with a 50 Merc. My gauge also is wacky most of the time. Seems to run forever with the gauge showing full then it will drop down to almost 1/2 full after that with it hardly ever stopping between 1/2 and full. The bottom half of the gauge seems to work better than the top half......

I have come to not rely on it that much. Usually just end up topping it off quite often....................

Can't help with a schematic, just thought I'd comment.

their service is awful. call fisher boats and ask to speak to old charlie or whoever is on the shop floor who wires those things. tell him you have a fisher. its the same boat. find out if their is a pinch point of a wire of the gauge wiring or if its a connection problem. he's probably seen it before.

A whacko fuel gage? The most common cause is a bad ground to the sender and sometimes the gauge it self. A simple check would be to make up a temp ground wire and ground them to the negative battery terminal and see how it acts then. It may not be the problem but it’s the firs thing I would check.
