I cant stop with the polls, it is very interesting to see what fellow members think. This poll represents and age old clash between those who use artificials and those who use naturals. I do not mean to spark a heated debate, I would just like to see what is used more. I am guessing that the third category will get the most votes, as many people including myself dont use exclusively artificials or exclusively naturals but some combination of the two, depending on the situation.

Keep polling, bro! These are fun!
Anyway, as you word the poll, I have to answer "artificial", because I always prefer using them. I just enjoy the added dimension of imparting action to an artificial lure. I take live bait with me if targeting panfish or walleyes, particularly if I am in the mood for a fish dinner.

I try to think like a fish and I saw hmm what do I want a plastic steak or the real thing. In my opinion live bait outproduces plastic atleast 10 to 1. I have to mention on your other poll I did say panfish as my favorite. For some reason crank baits and spinners dont catch bluegills lol.

You're right....I can count the gills on one hand that I have caught with a crankbait (exactly one!)
However....Bluegills on a flyrod with a rubber spider are a blast!
TM,
Try some Beetle-Spins this year...
I voted for the combination. It's fun to mix it up. I like watching a bobber go under, but I also like watching white spiders disappear when I'm using a fly rod too!

You can catch lots of gills on slow jerking a rapala. I have caught a few that aren't as big as the rap. They come up to nip it, and get a treble in the mouth.

alot depends on where i am fishing, and what i am fishing for.
i usually use spinners for bass, and for gills i use a little of everything live bait, lures, and flies.
but alot depends on the lake i am fishing. i know a couple of lakes where lures produce better than live bait.

When I'm fishing for panfish, and walleye I use natural baits. For the bass and pike I use lures. My favorites are the wild thang for bass and a spinner bait for pike.

I fish with both but have to say that for me live bait catches more fish.
