Perching with tubejigs

This weekend I went perch fishing and did fairly well, but the guys down river from us were catching 5 to our 1. They said they were using tubejigs, we could see that they were uaing bobbers and jigging the lures most of the time. While we caught only perch with our tradition perch rigs, they caught many-many walleye, 5 gallons of jumbo perch and quite a few northerns. They obviously had a "honey hole";) , but they also had the lure setup and presentation the fish couldn't resist. Anyone used this their technique?

We use to S-L-O-W troll a tube jig with a minnow up north and catch a lot of perch crappie and bass. Our favortie color was rootbeer.
