If you are looking for steelhead try fishing the Bear river in downtown Petosky. It is not pretty, but can be productive. Try fishing the river where it turns and heads out to the bay. Look for the darker river water meets up with the clearer bay water, wigglers and spawn work well. You can go to Youngs bait store in Allenson. As far as the Maple goes it is a very small river and marginal at best for trout. The Maple flows into Burt lake and as far as I know does'nt get any run of fish from Burt because of lack of water flow wear it empties into Burt. You could also try fishing north a bit near wilderness point, check a map, I think the river is named the Carp or Sucker, it has some steel in it when they run, it also gets a plant of trout every year at one of the road crossings.

Wildcatwick,,,,,,,check you PM box.

If your going to do some deer scouting, try going west out of Pellston on Robinson rd. Watch where Pleasentview rd deadends on the left. Go another, geez can't be more then a 1/3 of a mile max. You'll be in the Pleasentview swamp area. It's on both sides of Robinson road, with hardwood ridges on the fringe of the swamp. Seems to me there's a medium sized creek running north/south under Robinson rd, might provide you with some trout fishing. It's a pretty remote area. About as remote as it gets anymore in Emmet county.

If you ever seen my posts about overgrown habitat for deer. It's in this area that i'm referring to. This could be one primetime hunting area, but you have mile after mile of mature hardwood covered hillsides providing no cover for the deer except that swamp, and Stevie Wonder could pick out where to sit on opening day in this area.
