Bats Are Back!!!!

Saw the first ones last night over a small lake ...... they looked bigger than the small brown.

Three were chowing down on bugs over the lake...... yeah!!

They were catching dinner on my pond just before dark last night also. Last year I made and put up 2 houses. Still no takers. Anyone have an idea on how i might get bats to use my bat houses ?

I would like to know how to get bats to not use my house. We have a pretty old house. It was originally built in 1867. Yup, a handy man special:) To bad I'm not a handy man:p We had a new roof put on about five years ago but they still manage to get in sometimes. You would think with all the old barns around here they would want to live there. Do they make such a thing as bat repellant?

Something that I've been meaning to do, make up some bat houses.

I'm not a pest expert but i have been a handyman. In the houses i've seen batproofed any gaps 1/4" or bigger need to be sealed or meshed over. Also wait till dusk and try to see where they exit your house. If its a single entry wait for them to leave and then seal that exit.(at dusk). If you go in the attic be careful not to disturb their droppings. Breathing that stuff in can be very dangerous.
