Right now I trout and panfish with a 7 1/2 foot ultralight rod, paired with 4lb test and bass and walleye fish with a med action 7 1/2 footer paired with 8 lb test. Both Gander mountain series middle of the road rods.

I'm looking for a med/heavy spinning rod for Bass, something with some backbone and a light-med action rod for running 6 lb test for throwing Rap's for stream trout and some river smallies. I'm not looking to spend a ton of money, just something that'll get the job done. Any reccomendations for a matching reel for use with 6lb would be apprieciated too.
Thanks!
$25-$40 for the rods, same for the reels

Anyone tired the Cabelas "E Glass" rods?

I don't really have a recommendation for a rod at that price but for a few dollars more spent on a reel, the Tica Libra is a lot of reel for the money.

Here is about the best price you'll find:

Those Berkley Cherrywoods are a heck of a lot of rod for the money too.

The Shakespeare Intrepid Titanium IM-7 Graphite 6'6" Medium action rod is pretty cheap @ about $30. I have landed nice sized eyes and steelhead on it. Works a jig or a crank bait pretty good. Hard to beat for the bucks. Nice sensative tip with good backbone.
The Intrepid Imperial @ 7' (IM-6 I believe) is another good buy at about the same price.
I really prefer my $80 Fenwick 7' med-fast action for jigin and crankin -knowing I'll probably get into some steelhead- rod though :) .
All these I use for inkland lake bait and lure casting for eye's-pike-bass-whatever hits fishing as well.
I use mainly 6-10 lb test line for all fishing ceps big lake trolling.

Thanks for the suggestions so far..... My 7.5 foot rod is more medium action than anything, not stiff enough in the butt section to lay the wood to larger bass on, and I really don't have a 'tweener rod and reel combo for 6 lb. test.

Esox, those Berk's are very nicely priced :)

I stoped buying St. Croix's a few years back and now I've been buying Gander Mtn Guide Series rods. Can't tell a difference and they're half as much.

Kush, if you like your Gander rods, why not look into one of their other rods? I currenty own and fish 4 of their rods... never had an issue with any of them that I didn't cause myself. We all break rods... and Gander will give you a new one forever. Can't beat that warrantee.

somehow most of my rods have turned into bass prop shops bionic blades... they are pretty reasonable if you get them during the spring sale.

Those Berkley Cherrywoods are a heck of a lot of rod for the money too.

I just picked up a Berkley Cherrywood medium action 5'6" casting rod, long cork handle, at Gander Mountain for $20. They had 6 & 7 footers also. Seemed like a decent rod for my needs. Glad to know I stumbled onto a find.:)

They also had many spinning combos (spooled) for $14.95. Gin Finn I think. 5-8 footers.

I'll second Oldgrand man. I have some of the Shakespeares and I like em. I also really like the Berkley Lightning rod, just not Berkley line products.
