Will it stay cold long enough???

To make good ice for all of us to hit the deeper water for those eyes? I know some get caught in the shallower water, but what about those of us that fish in the 18-23' range? Is it gonna get cold enough to make that much ice or should I hope for some good river fishing this year? My gut says it wont freeze that much, but my hopes are high and I just wanna get out and FISH!!!! Oh yea, I live only a few miles from the bay and from recent experience, late freezes are not likely:sad:

It's hard to tell if we will get good ice on the Bay this year, but as you said late winter has not always been very good. Accuweather's 15 day forecast doesn't look bad for ice making weather, but there are not very many really cold days or nights. A bunch of days in the 20's and many nights in the teens. I hope we get safe ice to get out to 18+ FOW for some eyes this winter. I will be counting on the river in a week or so though, and pray to get on the Bay. I was on the Bay and River Friday afternoon water was anywhere from 35-36 Degrees F. There were some ice chuncks also.

I think your right. Ever notice how it could still be frigid in Mid March but the ice just keeps breaking up. The longer days/sun really beat up on the ice bad. If we were to make it out deep this year it should have got cold around the first of Dec. and stayed cold..

It only takes 3-4 nights to make good safe ice if it's cold and calm.Actually the weather forecast looks good if we don't get to much snow for awhile.:)

yeah it would make safe ice if you are walking, but not 3-4 miles out. I would not be taking a machine out 3-4 miles on the bay to get to 18+ FOW. I think we will get safe ice on the bay to get to deep water but it won't be for at least a couple of weeks.
