I'm in, 2 people maybe 3. How about adult beverages? I never really had any in Sebewing, always stop at trappers in U-ville on way back to b.c.

. . . and I would love to attend. We only ice fish two or three times a year lately (usually on the Kawkawlin for pike and small perch), but we'd love to have a chance to catch some big perch and possibly some pike.
Is there any chance a person could spear or catch a big northern in the areas that you're considering for the group outing? What types of baits or lures would you recommend for someone who was planning to target both pike and perch?
Alan, my twin brother, and I have jigged DareDevils, Little Cleos, and large Swedish Pimples to lure pike into the spearing hole, but I'm betting that, with all of your experience on the bay, you may have some advice that might make our perch/pike outing more successful.
Please PM me or post a note, so my brother and I might be more prepared when we meet you on the 27th.
Thanks,
Paul W. Mayes

yep thats it bud....right now a few guys are thinking we should try mud creek ...if i dont hit any fish at gieger tonight i think that what will probably happen
walleyeman2006
01-26-2007, 05:09 PM
nothing at gieger tonight but the report i got from mud creek wasnt great either...if the wind direction doesnt change mud creek wont be an option...i wont head out at mud creek with a south east wind and ice from 4-7 inches....just too dangerous for me ...just way to close to the big lake to mess with...vander built park has allso been producing fish too that might be a safe option....acu weather says the wind will switch early in the morning have to wait and see

Thanks again Walleyeman and KUDOS to the wife and daughter for lugging the chili out to us hungry fisherman. I don't think the fishing was gangbusters for many eastside anglers today. Oh and KUDOS to you for making the chili. Doughboy

Wallyeyeman2006.......It was nice meeting you and thanks for putting the outing together. Maybe next time the fish will cooperate along with my 3 wheeler. Took it out after walking out (won't make that mistake again with a hundred pound shanty) and used it to move around abit then it died on me and had to have it towed in. Anyone wanna buy a 3 wheeler? :yikes:
To all the rest of you, it was nice to see you and put faces to names from here on the site.

:yeahthat: Had a great time, thanks also to ya for the chili w-man, thank the wife and daughter also for bringing it to us. Thats a great one you got there don't let her get off the hook:lol: Next time I'll have to do a little more serious fishing, hard to with my bud Joe, he likes to fish, but like to have a good time more so. I'll leave him home next time or not buy anymore Yukon Jack! :p Thanks again, and if you want to try some walleye in Bay City, drop me a pm, won't take you anywhere on river I feel isn't safe.

Walleyeman2006, thanks for the Sebewaing outing. We enjoyed coming from "across the border" and had fun regardless of the fish results. The neatest part was meeting guys like Buddwiser, Doughboy, Ralph, Joe & of course, our fearless leader. The fish stories and jawing about fishing tips was worth it alone. Maybe a late Feb gathering, weather-permitting, when the perch are stageing&more cooperative???

that might work lulu but honestly maybe after the ice goes away as good as the fall was here best i can remember so that goes back 20 years..the spring open water fishing should be awsome...plus its a lot easier to move around....if we do try another ice trip it will be a walleye and perch trip there will be about a 7 day window when the fish come in close and the ice starts to go...judging by the perch going deep for this long the ice is going to stay for a while

Thanks Walleyeman for putting together the outing, sorry I missed the chili but I had to be back to Lapeer by 1. I think the biggest laugh I got was setting up the shanty. After opening it up I discovered that some mice had chewed it all to hell . Set it up anyway, looked like a block of swiss cheese, good ventilation and didnt even have to unzip the door to see if anybody was moving around, just stood up!!!!!
Hope to do it again some time!
