The camp has a river (Shiawasee) running through it, and they have a canoe livery, and there is a swimming lake, that is cordoned off and some of it is for fishing only and there are 2 spring fed ponds that have fishing. Lots of bluegills and little bass and I have hooked a couple nice bass, and landed a 16" one on ultra light tackle.

This is a real family oriented place. We like it so much we took a site for the whole season this year.

1/2 hour from Lansing with shopping and 1 hour from the big mall in Auburn Hills where Bass Pro's Outdoor World is. There is a lot to do at that Mall. Its worth making a 1/2 day or even a full day trip to in the middle of a camping week.

O.K. Sarge,
When do you plan on going there again? I've seen the ads but haven't tried many private sites yet.
Sense you recommend it I'd like to give it a try.

We have site 37 from the first of may thruough sept. We won't be out there the first weekend though, because we take the rig turkey hunting. We have the 234 hunt and need a bed for some of the time. As soon as we get it back, it goes to Walnut for the summer. We might not be out there every weekend but certainly lots of them. Its only 30 min. from home for us so we can dash out whenever we have time.

This will be our first year taking a season site. Need to see if we really like it. It seems like a plan.

Hay Sarge,
I'm always looking for a new place to camp. With the new wheels we bought, I want to get my moneys worth this year. Hopefully I can get a weekend to stop by Walnuthills. If you have a minute or a weekend this may be a good way to say hello.

When you get ready to go there for a weekend or whatever, give me a bump and let me know, I'll let you know if we plan to be there at that time. Probably about 1/3 up to 1/2 of the weekends this summer will find us there.

My dad lives about three miles from the Wallnut Hills campground, and every now and then I ride my bike over to the camp ground from my Dad's house. I will be at his house on the the 18th of May and I will also be at his house on June 1st. perhaps I could ride by and see if you are there on those dates. It would be really cool to meet you in person.
