Anyone go to the opening day of the Ultimate Fishing Show? How was it? Were there more vendors than last year?

I was there with Ramlundman, saw Shametamer and Walleyewench there. K&D hase a great deal on Matzuo spinnerbaits. I was amazed at the number of muskie baits there. Tom and I each picked up some Hi Fin rollers, Glitter Bitches and Cha-Ogemas. I think when we left the vendor still had one Cha-Ogema.

went to the show on friday --- it was its usually great show --- i don't know if there were more vendors -- however , there was something for everybody

I would have to think about whether there were more vendors or not.

But, it definately looked better organized as far as the exact way the isles and booths were laid out. Easier to walk around and stop to look at anything that would interest us.

Seemed like the tackle vendors had more in the way of lures. Last year I thought that some of the vendors went overboard with rods and left the lures at home. This is not to be confused with the vendors that only sell rods. There were one or two of these guys there.

I was amazed at the number of muskie baits there.Muskie has become the big game predator critter for the fishing group. Much like bear hunting has become.

went last night with daughter. brought a big box of food for Michigan sportsman against hunger. nice work you guys.

saw a lot of the same faces dan from lakeside, dan gapen, musky bob, dennis the antique lure guy, kevin van damn, keith k walleye guy, chip.

seems like the sport is getting stale . not much new tackle or innovation .no superstars or reasons to attract new participants.

same old dealers.

the ice jigging rod was cool. wheres the ice
lots of ice shantys left.

not complaining , the show was very well done.rock has a nice facility

just wondering if i am barking up the wrong tree.i love the sport ,but the sport needs a boost.

i am going again with some buddies about 1 p.m. sat. i still love talking to dealers and old friends.see you there.

went back to check out that trophy pauil!~ the one with the cabin or just the center console?..was looking at the cabin/porta potty..figure we could pull some all nighters on st clair with that..launch on june 1st, hit the first muskie at12;01 june 2nd..lol...........if we get a 2nd boat i still think for reasonably priced aluminum those smokercrafts are hard to beat!...ah but wench likes the starcrafts:(

Just got back and it was fun lots of stuff to buy for sure, Shametamer them Starcrafts are nice.. Did you happen to see the Team StarCrafts boat with the flames on the side of if it "SWEET" I told Houghton laker, Gilly , MWP I need that on my boat because if I aint catching fish I can still look good doing it LOL.. I guess they have these things called skins if I am not mistaken that you can buy and put on your boat, it's like a whole new paint job just done with that vinyl stuff like Jpollman uses..Cya Slick

Went and had a great time!! Was there for about 6 hours jabbering away with everybody. Love how they basically organized the outfitters to one side and the other booths to the other. Saw some greaqt demonstartions. I was surprised at how packed it was. Didn't think it would be with this sorry economy.

That is the one that used to be at the Palace.

Meet Slick, MWP and saw Gilly and Houghton Laker at K&D booth. Met fisheater at the booth that sells harness blades. Also met 2 guys that bowl on our Weds nite bowling league (we talk fishing while bowling). Saw Alex V. at the LSCWA booth. Didn't get a chance to say hi. Talked to BoB brunner briefly.

Picked up a few items. Wish I had unlimited funds. Saw other stuff I want alond with a nice boat I saw. I think it was a 24ft. Trophy.

Just got home. I probably spent a total of 6 hours at the show... met and talked to Kevin VanDam for quite some time.... had to ask him about catching my smallmouth on Glen Lake! LOL!! He remembered the day... cold, windy, rough, just how he likes it!

Spent some cash at the K&D booth... thanks for the deal on the spinnerbaits Ken. And thanks again for the tickets!!!

I was a little dissapointed in the lack of fly gear... by that I mean rods and reels. I only saw 2 or 3 booths with fly reels... and one of those was way out of my budget. Went there looking for a decent fly reel and left empty handed.

Over all I had a good time. And I will say there were some fine looking fisherladies in attendance! Always a good thing!!

Love the show, went for the 1st time last year, cannot make it this year. Happy with it and the deals, but it seemed I ran out of cash too soon.

What can i tell ya slick? having bought 5 boats in last 21 months..we look at every boat at each show at least twice!..My wife enjoys the graphics on the Polar krafts..(yes we got some of the 'fishheads stuff(hats ,shirts etc.). i think next year i'm getting there 3 hours b4 the show opens, so the walk from the exit/entrance door is closer..2 times before our final exit we went to the car to dump stuff off!:dizzy: hey..does anyone really use those 'tasmainian devil lures' with success?..p.s. how long before we see fire breathing, neon, blinking, color changing, 2 foot high lettering saying SLICK FISHING on that craft of yours?

I went saturday late after work and videoed Muskiebobs seminar. Didn`t get a chance to do any real power shopping so I`m going back today. Gonna stop at K-D outdoors booth and get a few things. Nice set up, Ninja. Looks like there is more vendors than last year and it`s laid out better too.

I am working on it some custom stuff as we speak, I dont want to get as flashy as your description because it would give away my position:lol: I have never been one to leave anything stock I always have to have new gadgets or some thing kinda flashy on my toys..Cya Slick
