Hi, my family is looking for a lodge or group of cabins to rent in late july or august within 3 hours from the flint area. It needs to be on a not too busy lake, but the lake needs to be a good fishing lake and we would have to be able to rent boats and motors. Can anyone give me any good ideas, thanks (i posted in the camping forum as well) , Chad

at this point in the year..you could be hard pressed to find reservations for a large group of cabins or a lodge during PRIME vacation season(they fill up well in advance)You might try fletchers pond(bout 6 resorts), Hamlin lake(8 or 10 resorts) or Houghton Lake/ they all fit your 3 hours From Flint, good fishing scenario...hope you find what you are lookin for!

There are two resorts on Fremont that have decent sandy swimming areas and the fishing.. well we all know how great that is.

Good luck with the cabins. It will be hard to find a group of them. You can get lodges at Jacks Landing though. They usualy have plenty. There around 60 dollars a night and they sleep four. You can rent a boat and motor for 60 dollars at Jacks or drive over to Lyons Landing a rent one for 30 or so dollars. The fishing there is great. Tones of nice pan fish for the kids, and an awsome amount of bass and pike. We go every year in June. I went last year in the middle of August also but the fishing was slower do to the cold fronts. Try this website www.jackslanding.com (http://www.jackslanding.com). It is very weedy there so use safety pin style spinnerbait, lipless cranks and Texas rigged soft plastics and you will cath fish. My lures of choice there are spinner baits. Bring alot because the bass and pike destroy them and they are pretty expensive at the tackle stores there. If you want pan fish just go to the tackle stores and get crawlers. Good luck.:)

Oh and there are no jetskies or speed boats allowed because of the stumps in the lake so it is one of the most peacefull lakes in MI.

the walleye fishing in hubbard lake is usually hot that time of year as is the bass fishing for smallmouth. 150 miles from mt. morris rd and 75. fishfoote, on this site, has a nice place right on the water that he rents out.
