A 6 year boy lost his life yesterday when he broke thru the ice on Van Etten Lake in Oscoda. Please parents, tell your children about the dangers of first ice.

I caught only a glimps of the news and thought they all made it out. Yesterday morning on my way to work a large van was coming up fast so I moved out of its way. It was the State Police Underwater Recovery unit. I got a sick feeling in my stomach because he was heading in that same direction. When I got home my wife told me that they found the 6 yr old.

Not to come off sounding like an *****, but did the article mention anything about where the parents (or whoever was watching the child) were??????

From what I understood the boy was 7 and was playing other boys a little older but that was my locale station down here.Ether was I have a son who is 8 and if something like that would happen to or family I would be devastated.once he was boron it was a life changing event. Now that he is old enough to hunt and fish and hunt I take extra precautions to make sure he stays safe.I am trying my bet to teach him to be safe on top of that but boy's will be boy's:dizzy:
