Nice post son! 1shot didn't want to get in the pic cuz he was eyeless so to speak, none the less I had a great time fishing with these two young men, It was my pleasure guys and anytime you want to go again just give me a call.

Another note 1shot didn't get skunked, he caught a 7' rod and reel combo that looked like it has been on the bottom of the river for quite some time.

AND THE FOG, HOLY BEJESUS:eek:

Hey guys, is that "oil spill" in the river going to screw up your fishing?

Well, it didn't today but I've heard of more oil coming down river, also there was some noticeable oil scum on the surface later in the morning that wasn't there when we started fishing. I'm going to take a couple day break and see what happens. Lets hope that they get on top of this soon, or I'll fishing Lake Erie sooner then I planned on.

Walleyeman,

Thanks again for the info, and I look forward to bumping into you guys on the river in the future! After we talked, we did NOTHING ELSE!!!

Fished behind Great Lakes Steel, and around the east side of Mud Island.....was a minor hotspell behind the mill at around 10:30 a.m......had 1 missed on our boat (pops).....one landed (brother-in-law), and saw 5 or 6 more nailed on all 4 sides of us.....Chartreuse jigs with minnow or twister tail (didn't seem to matter).....fishing 16-20 FOW on the west side of the channel that was there.....all fish we saw taken were about 1/4 mile north of Ecorse River.....when the spell ended (about 15 minutes).....it was like a light switch......OFF!.....We broke for lunch and gave it all afternoon with no results.....did not see any fish landed after lunch either.....perfect conditions.....lack of cooperation, but THAT'S FISHING!

Here is a snapshot of my brother-in-law with the 1 single walleye that "Sandy Bottoms" landed.....all of the fish we saw were about the same size.....perfect eaters.....

Enjoyed the first trip to the area and looking forward to returning before the run is over.....(damned job).....TIGHT LINES!

Ok you guys...yer making me wanna get out on the River. I pick up my new boat on Wed, Hopefully will be out there on the weekend if I learn how everything on the boat works LOL.. this is my first real boat, (other than a rowboat) and learning to control the trolling motor and 115 hp will take a day or so lol

Then I will need YOUR help in learning that River and how to catch some of those nice eyes....I know that many of you are knowledgable and willing to assist.

Great pics guys....Dang I want some Eyes....

Hey Trailfinder, I see that you are from Walled Lake. I went to high school there. I would be happy to give you some tips on fishing the river. I was out on Saturday and we got 13. The five biggest were as follows: 8lbs, 7lbs, 6lbs, 5.5lbs, 4.5 lbs. We also had a couple more over 3. Fished in the rain all morning, but it was worth it. Got the 8lber on the first pass at about 6:30am in front of Great Lakes Steel. Email me at michael_schlimgen@i2.com for more info.

Redbone, 38#'s would have put you in the money, what you get Sat?? Ran into some Handliners from the Saginaw Bay Club, they seemed pretty cool and they gave me some real good tips, and I gave them a couple , We were thinking of a Handliners only Walleye tournament, starting at 4:00 in the afternoon and running all night into the morning bite, hows that sound to everyone!!

A five fish limit, winning weight should be around 40!!!! I might even have to hop the crick for that.

Fished the sturgeon hole for a couple hours this evening, nothing but those pesky muskies!!!! Hope they choke on those rap's!!!

Hey hunter, We also discussed the musky situation, and were considering a bounty on the largest ( Rap Raper ) Musky taken in the tournament,, LOL.. maybe a bonus pound or something along those lines...

I found 2 of those hot little plugs over here, paid $8 apiece for them, both are down the throats of 25+# muskies!!

Between the 2 of us we had 5 on in under 2 hours, by the time we got reset and both fishing again we had another one on. Unbelievable broke 4 lines that are 35# hard line, and landed a small 15-16#.

If I were fishing them, I couldnt buy a hit. Watched a couple guy's on shore just crushing them casting huskies, looked like they were having real fun!

It's hard to believe the muskys are not even done spawning yet,, I know May is the musky month,, and I have already lost a pile of lures, you know there hogs to cut the heavy line we use,, still cracks me up jiggers using 6# and leaving a hundred pounds of led on the river bottom,,I haven't used anything less then anchor rope for years,,
