We fished Lake St Clair yesterday with our oldest two boys from about 7:30am until 2:30pm and had a riot.

When we got out of the canal and out onto the Lake, there were fish jumping everywhere, it was really neat. We didn't go very far out and dropped anchor. Got everyone set up and started fishing.(only 2 other boats out by us) Within a couple of minutes, we were catching perch and sunfish. Our son Jonathan caught twice as many as the rest of us in the morning. We had a lot of throwbacks but did manage to catch quite a lot of jumbos in the mix.

In the afternoon, Kyle seemed to have the magic and he was pulling them in left and right.

We saw a lot of other people doing great with minnows and we gave it a whirl but crawlers seemed to do the trick for us. There were some slow periods throughout the day and we hopped around a lot. By the time we left, there were a good 20-25 boats out.

I got a big surprise when I hooked into a nice size smallie. Got me dreaming about bass season. Took a quick pic and released.(Chromium will post the pics, he's the tech wizard, not me!)

It was a wonderful day and we saw a mix of sun and rain. Kids had a great time. Even though the water was fairly calm, I still feel like I am on a boat today. I don't get sick, just takes a couple of days for me to feel like I'm not on a boat. If I took dramamine while out, would it help my aftereffect? We go to cedar point with some friends on their boat and sleep on the boat. After the boat and the rides, I'm a wreck. Takes a good 3-4 days on land to feel right. Annoying but worth it! Any ideas?

Have fun everyone!

Sounds like you had a nice day especially having the kids out. As far as the dramamine goes, my wife gets sick in a boat if she can,t see land and she has taking it on boats @ Planes and the only side affect she has is she gets tired and sleepy from it. But she just told me the day after she would feel fine.

I'll try the dramamine, I have nothing to lose. If dramamine doesn't work, I'll try N O's beer idea, and then progress to wisers!

Can't wait to get out again! :D

Thats so cool that the boys got to catch a bunch of fish!

Tangleknot, how long have you been going on the water? Maybe your sea legs will grow on you! If not, I like Don's idea too!

Great job on the fish guys/gals!! I love it when you take kids fishing and get into the fish. I don't think you posted the location you were fishing but from the first pic, it looks like you were off Huron Point. Is that at all accurate?

Gone Fishing, we were at "the bridge" north of selfridge. I am not very familiar with the land mark names to know if that is Huron point in the background. The view is looking North if that helps. Note the grin on Chromium's face and he doesn't even have a fish yet! He's having fun.

It a small boat and things were cramped so the boys used there ice fishing poles to minimize accidental rod whippings. The look on their faces when they hooked and landed a few bass!:D

Thanks tangleknot, That spot is pretty close for me to run to. I think I'll have to take the little guy over there and see if we can't get some grins going too!! Appreciate the info!

Great job sarah....I was out yesterday at the coast guard station and my niece and boyfriend from Indiana got into the jumbos....

I would recommend taking the dramamineprior to hitting the water. A friend had the same trouble and has eliminated it with the meds...Dons way will only give you another problem...hangover..which is the worse of two evils....lol
