The Whale

Three of us went out Sat. a.m. in search for Walleye. We were not disappointed !!! Launched from the Au Gres River and made our way out to the mouth. Began trolling a mixed bag of treats for the fishes as we made our way north toward Pt. Lookout.
We hadn't gone but two hundred yards and had a fish on. Walleye - 24", on a crawler harness in only about 6' of water. Went another fifty yards and another Walleye on a Hot-N-Tot, close to same size as the first. Very cool we thought, gonna be a good day. Ended up trolling all the way over near the smelt traps (long time) before we hooked up again. Dang Brown Trout, about a 7lber, on a Rapala of all things. Threw it back, why would ya keep a dang Trout anyway is beyond me if it ain't a wallhanger ?
By the traps is where the fun began. By 9:30 a.m. we had brought in another nine Walleyes between the three of us, none under 6 lbs. biggest was a beautiful 9.5 lber 28.5" long.
At the end of the point there was quite a few boats trolling around so we figured we head over that way trolling of course. Real soon though the wind starts picking up, a fog moves in you could actually feel on your skin in droplets, so we turned and ran for home.
A 14' Starcraft with a 25 Merc with three guys in it is no match for what can come up real quick out there. 3' - 5's is what we had to pound our way back in with all of us not talking a whole lot, I think it was due to our praying we didn't swamp the damn little boat we were in. Plenty wet, a great mess of fish, and a pretty good story to tell is what we came home with. Fun, fun, fun.
And how did you do ?
Whale :D :D :D
