Ive been hearing more and more about the wild pigs in michigan, and figured id like to give it a shot on thinning the heard. But i have a few questions and hoping that you guys can help.

1. Where can i find them.
i live in saginaw, and am willing to travel a bit to find them. cant go wrong with a little bit more bacon in the freezer. :D

2. How do you find them...
do you just find an area they are in and track them. im new to all this. i need to go hunting since waterfowl is over, and i didnt get to deer hunt this year. my trapline isnt fulfilling my need. thanks guys

Asked the same question of the DNR. Here's the reply they sent me:

Hi,
Here is a link to our feral pig webpage:
http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10370_12145_25065-155439--,00.html
As for state land, I would suggest Clinton and Gratiot/Saginaw as good places to start. Also, if you find parcels of state land adjacent to agricultural land that would be good too. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks

Midland county is a good place to look also, as this a county where some escaped a few years back. I seen one and my buddy shot it with his bow. This was in Midland county. I don't know about tracking them, the easiet way I have heard to find them is look where they are tearing up land.

I too am intrested in learning a little more about the whereabouts of these pigs, anyone that has seen one and dosn't mind (don't want anyone to give away there secret hunting spot) saying where they saw them please let us know. DNR map only tells the county they were spotted in and the reason they want to eliminate them. Thanks in advance.

I've posted my story...but I got one in West Branch and it was on public property. Best advice is to ask the locals in your area. We heard they were near our property...then we started spotting them on deer hunts. I would recommend walking around until you start seeing areas tore up like a type of farming equipment went through the property. Our area is Destroyed with the ground torn up near "pines or cedars" On our property they seem to stay near the thickest and most diffucult area to walk and it borders a swamp.

I have only shot 1...but it was great to eat!! I will be out the next two weeks in search of another!!

There's a spot not too far from you in Saginaw County and the good part for you is it is State land. From the Jct of M-52 and M-57, go west on M-57 for 7 miles. Turn north on Chapin road (at the Racy Church) and go about 3/4 mile. There is a small driveway just south of the bridge. The State owns 70 acres there.

i would like to see farmer who are experiencing crop/land damage due to ferel pigs contact the DNR and invite a limited amount of hunters to harvest pigs on their land.

i'm from the south and miss hog hunting. i'd jump at the chance.

I see Lapeer county on the map, but I dont know where to begin looking for them. It would be real nice if the DNR would narrow there spectum to townships or something.

I contacted the DNR to find out if they could give me a more specific location. They told me to contact the wildlife biologist for the area. Lapeer is out of the Southern Managment Office in Southfield I believe. The number is 248-359-9040. Thats as far as i've gotten. Will try to fond out more next week.
