I was wondering if any one builds their own fishing rod , I was thinking of trying to make a new casting rod and wondering how difficult it was .

Pretty much quit now, but have done several hundred. It's as difficult as you want to make it. If you're a "perfectionest" your 1st one can be tough. Go to....rodbuilder.org and you'll find what you'll be lookin' at as far as difficult is concerned. Time consuming, but hey, as my wife says...it keeps him off the streets....:lol:

Eyesforever has built hundreds more rods than me but being somewhat new to me this is what I think.
Advantages=no one has a rod like you, satisfaction, uniqueness, its cool, you can get exactly what you want
Disadvantages= start up cost, time invested, you wont necessarily save money, you will be mad if you break it, it can be frustrating when you are new.
