stay very still, as they have great senses. :)

and will try to circle and scent you. ALWAYS use the wind to your advantage. Try to find a place to sit with good viewing and use effective camo [if you have snow use white etc.] Mouth calls work as do the electronic. Be patient....sometimes they come barreling in after just a few mins sometimes a bit longer. If after 15-20 mins calling with no targets showing up get up and move a few hundred yards....allow time for everything to quiet down and repeat. Our best times have been afternoons 1-2 hrs before dark with fox. Though you can shoot them anytime. I have stumbled into them rabbit hunting and killed 2 with a 20ga load of 8 shot [yeah thats close] and a 12 ga with 7-1/2s as I was walking creekbeds. Never know where they will show up.
And, as EJ said, remain motionless...they will see you with the slightest movement. And tell the smoking friends to refrain from it....have a friend that has blown many set ups because the dork cant sit still without a smoke! We dont hunt much anymore.....lmao. All you need are the basics, gun, ammo, camo, and a mouth call Good luck.

Do you have any buds with dogs to run them?Get permission from the surrounding property owners and turn them loose. After a couple of runs and a kill or two thy will get the hint and vacate. If you don't drop me a PM always looking to run my dogs:lol:

Don't misunderstand...Hunter orange is required to hunt coyotes (unless hunting at night).

Wexford county is where the Dogman roams, and it is the 7th year so he is due to roam the woods this year, so be watchful.:hide:

Hunting is always fun, and I would definitely give it a shot, but if your friend really has a "coyote problem" then maybe you should try trapping as well. You have a much better shot catching one over several weeks than trying to shoot one during a 30 minute calling session. If you don't get some shooting, you might want to look into it.
Good luck, if we ever get some snow I'll be out there calling as well.

there is a post in this forum that covers the basics of coyote and fox hunting. It is an excellent source of info.
If there is a problem with the yotes I personally would hunt, trap and snare. Be sure to check your scent contamination if hunting and trapping/snaring in the same area.
Good luck
